NDN98
Finished off these 2 last night. I had high hopes for the KC18 since I like their store picks so much, but it didn’t live up to my expectations .

Mine opened up a little bit after being opened, but….. Oh well, ya’ can’t win ‘em all.
fosmith
Stagg Jr. batch 8, a 2017 release. My first SJr and I remember how blown away I was when I first tasted it. Caramel, butterscotch, brown sugar, cocoa... Fortunately I was able to secure a few bottles and have one, maybe two, left. That was when, with a little searching, these could still be found on the shelf at msrp. Now, I don't even bother.
MM818
The Disco 7 probably deserved its own post because I thought it was excellent. Rebel was fun drinking. Loved the cinnamon. OF100 when the mood struck me!

I love that it’s batched for consistency, and it fires on all cylinders for me. I do tend to like the older, oaky bourbons though. too bad we met in the empty post. I would’ve gladly taken any unwanted donations.

I think it's the only 18+ year old bourbon I've ever tasted that doesn't have dry oak tannins that take away from the experience. It's the "juiciest" and best balanced hyper-aged bourbon I can think of. I can't think of a Beam bourbon I've enjoyed more. Maybe Booker's 25th ... but that was so long ago I don't trust my memory. I have a sneaking suspicion that what some folks don't like about it is actually the price they paid for it.

Too windy and cold this time of year in the "Show Me" state. Besides, Loch & K(e)y Society picked, bought and sold a barrel of 750ml bottles of Blanton's Gold last week. Couldn't miss that! 0895
Finished off an OESQ barrel pick I helped with about 5 1/2 years ago. Fun memories. For all the people who preach about this and that recipe, it doesn’t matter. OESQ was (in my mind) one of my least favorite recipes at the time we picked this one blind. It really opened my eyes as to how the specific mash run, warehouse location, and luck of the single barrel play into everything. I consider myself fortunate to get to go along for a 4R barrel pick, as I know it’s probably a bucket list experience for many enthusiasts.
