Hitting a little Broken Barrel Cask Strength KSBW 115 proof.  Finished with broken barrel staves.  Mash bill is 70/21/9 (Corn/Rye/Barley) and the "Oak bill" is 40% ex-bourbon barrels, 40% new french oak, and 20% sherry cask oak.   I forgot how good it is.

I’m having a pour of HMc10, not bad but not great.  Just not working for me tonight.  I’m needing something different for a second pour.

A nice pour of SB HH2.  Helped my oldest son and his wife move to a new home over the past two days.  My body is feeling it.  But, the bourbon is helping relieve the aches.

I have a bottle I picked up from a bottle share and I can't quite figure out what to make of it.  Very off-profile and sometimes it hits and sometimes it misses for me.

Sipping on another new (to me) bottle, this one from Starlight.  I found it at a local store that does a lot of store picks.  It's yummy!  However, it does not drink like a double oak.  On the nose and on the palate the oak is not nearly as prominent as expected.  It noses and drinks like a high-rye bourbon or a barely legal rye.  As someone who drinks more rye than bourbon I'm not complaining.  It's just far from your typical double oak flavor profile.

ECBP from the pre batch A,B,C era or pirate bottle if you prefer. The nose takes me straight to standing in a rickhouse, it’s wonderful, and the flavors even with a chip of ice to tame the 136ish proof are strong, delicious, in your face and deserving of all the fame these bottles enjoy. It’s not the first pour from this one but I don’t go to it regularly so each pour is its own “first” and I LOVE em!!

since it was 95 degrees out today, a hefty pour of ancient age over a large cube was in order. I also just put part of a bottle of it in the freezer for the upcoming heat wave.

Ancient Age is (was) my favorite freezer bottle.  Delicious ice cold.  I say was because I no longer have room for a bottle in the freezer because of all the meat I have stashed there since I have been dry aging beef primal cuts.  I know.. priorities.. But old hobbies sometimes have to make way for new ones.  Or maybe I could just buy a bigger freezer haha..

Just pulled a MM101 from the bunker. I stashed a few of these before it became a permanent part of the lineup. About to crack it.

In light of the recent discussion about packaging, I think I’ll hang onto this bottle for decanting because I love the gold lettering.

It is a cool packaging.  I guess Limited is not really limited in this case.  I can still find it for $30.  I actually prefer it over MMCS which is about $5. more.

Actually, it is my favorite MM product other than an occaisonal MM46 PS CS.  However those can be hit or miss and are pricey for what they are.

The MM101 is my favorite iteration of Maker's too.

It's their best looking bottle and I have a couple.  I'll save one of them too...

Enjoyed one pour of WT101.  Now on my second pour while watching the NBA Finals.

Things are really heating up across the country.  Everyone be safe and stay hydrated.  Not with bourbon but water, electrolytes and juice.  Bourbon is the creme on the pie.

Seriously, I experienced heat exhaustion numerous times over the years as a soccer official.  You can't tough out heat. It always wins. Bourbon, water, bourbon, water...always a good idea during heatwaves.

I love the bottle but I always slam dunk the empties into the recycle and say "done with you bitch, better luck next time."  I haven't broken a bottle yet but I bet I have broken the hearts of other bottles in my bunker who wonder why they don't receive such accolades."  Shhh...the secret is if it is a stellar bottle like WLW or GTS, I dispose of it in the recycling bin quietly as a sign of respect for the whiskey it once contained.  Some bottles are destined to hold NDP crap while others hold allocated unobtainum bourbon.  Sort of like a chicken.  Some are destined for chicken breast sandwiches while others are destined for Chicken McNuggets.

New make GW4G (Grandpa Weller's Four Grain) tonite - emptying an old, squat bottle of WSR and adding new OGD114 from one of the bottles I bought from my last trip to Collinsville, IL.  Absolutely delish on a raucous night of thunderstorms and Championship NBA basketball!  😆

Go Celtics!!!  🥳

I am with you on the Celtics.  I just wish Kristap was playing.  This is a really talented team.  Jaylen Brown is crazy good.  He has to be a bourbon drinker.

4RSB in the glass.

I'm looking to start the night in the 90 proof range and reached for this.

It's kind of working. I want to like it, but I'm not a huge fan 4R, in general.  I prefer the yellow label from the freezer.

All the recent Wilderness Trail and MM101 conversations have triggered me. I may have to follow up with one of those, or even both!

MM101 in the glass.

The O's and Phillies in extra innings in a very exciting game.

The skies just opened up.

The stadium is 15 minutes from the house and it's pouring whiskey and rain here.

Let's go O's!!
