FasterHorses
Although HW is pretty much dead to me..curious if their current Double Rye using their own distillate comes anywhere close to the profile of the pre 2019 Double Rye which i believe was barton and mgp? I have a few older ones bunkered and dont want to fly through them if there isnt anything fairly similar. Edited April 2 by FasterHorses
Mattk
I've heard rumors that the Kentucky owl rye was bartons distillate, but it doesn't drink much like the old double ryes.

My favorites are from late 16 to early 17, when they were running low on the Barton, so the mixed in old mgp as well. There are still a few to be found on shelves in smaller stores around here.
Thomm
I keep finding this stuff at various locations on sale (probably 2 years ago at TW they had it for $24). Most recently at a nearby grocery store, the shelf card in front of it had a blurb that seemed to "fondly recall" those earlier versions in an attempt to get the consumer to try the present one.  How does one go about dating these? I noticed the newer ones had a 23 in the batch number (for 2023, perhaps?).  Just wondering what to be on the lookout for. Ya never know what might be hiding around the next corner. Mattk
The first 2 digits are the year, then is the month in letter form. A=Jan, b=Feb and so on
