Kepler
Looks like a new 10 year variant: https://bourbonblog.com/2024/06/05/knob-creek-10-year-old-rye-whiskey-new-permanent-addition-to-portfolio/
lemonman
That would be very interesting, if the price isn't out of line with the rest of KC.
Anwalt
A friend got me one at $70. I won't see it for a few months. I look forward to trying it. I'll be curious to compare it to Old Overholt 10y CS (110) which I really like.

I've tasted it before and it was good enough to purchase, even at the steep price.
b1gcountry
Oops, looks like I accidentally created a second thread on this bottle. I picked up a bottle today. Drinking the neck pour now. I don't know how much is just the first few sips, but it's pretty bold and drinks hotter than 100p. Not in a bad way, and if you like knob creek, it won't be a big deal. It definitely smells like a nicely aged low rye content rye. Seems like a 51%. I could be convinced this is a bourrye. Overall, not too minty. Rye spice is tamed and mellowed with some age. There aren't many 10yr rye options. This is decent. Proof is decent. Bold with rough edges and a lasting finish. Some of those rough edges might fade a bit with the neck pour gone.

Good first report on the new bottle. Thanks for sharing your feedback here for the rest of us. Your membership in the 'neck pour' cult distracted me a little bit though Lol
b1gcountry
Meh..I definitely think bourbon mellows a bit as it oxidizes. I tried it in comparison with some redemption 10yr 116p. Obviously the high rye stood out. The higher proof redemption actually tasted lower proof. There was a surprising amount of char in the KC for a 10yo rye. I usually consider that a trait of young bourbon. The redemption also had slightly more complex oak influence to it. It wasn't a huge difference though and I got some good notes from the KC, they were just more subtle. My first take is that it's fairly priced at $65 for a 10yr rye, and it scratches the itch, but it's not spectacular. mbroo5880i
I passed on this at a local grocery for $59.99. No particular reason for the pass. Just can't buy everything.
Davesnothere
I saw it on the shelf this weekend for $75. I was curious, but I think I'd like to try it first. I do like the Knob creek 6 year rye. So I probably would like the 10. Thanks for the first pour report.
