I didn't know there was a difference, good to know.  I stocked up back then when the (now recurring) rumor was it was going away ... still have some of those bottles.  Glad to have them!

They're all good, regardless of when they were released 🙃

I still enjoy and continue to purchase Kentucky Spirit.  But strictly from a value standpoint I can't really justify it so I understand why others don't recommend it.  To me, it's still a quality bottle of bourbon at a fair price.  I find it noticeably more refined than WT101 with more aged bourbon notes.  But yes RRSiB is always a better bottle for not that much more money.

I find WTRB to be solid next tier up option to WT101.  Whether it makes sense from a value standpoint depends on the price and my mood.  I just bought a bottle a week or so ago and I have really enjoyed. it.  I rarely see WTKS in my area and when I do it is usually around $70.  I have read and heard good things about the recent barrels.  I assume because the age is moving up a little.

OGD from that era is some of my favorite bourbon. I stopped buying it 3 or 4 years ago because there was a dramatic decline to me. I need to try it again though.

I would encourage you to.  The price jumped up in my area when it returned but I am not regularly finding it for less than $25.  I have enjoyed the last few bottles I have purchased.  I found when it first returned I preferred OGD BIB.  But, now I prefer OGD 114.  I assume this may be because the age might have crept up a little and the extra proof seems to accentuate the profile more.

I started out drinking some WTRB, which is delicious 😋... and then I decided to pour some WT101 for a side-by-side comparison.  First time I've done this and the results were fun.

The WTRB on the nose is a lot of vanilla and butterscotch with red fruit underneath, cinnamon, and a bit of sweet oak.  By comparison the WT101 immediately hits me with lots of red fruit, followed by cinnamon spice, some confectionary sweetness, and orange.

On the palate the WTRB stands heads and shoulders above the WT101 in terms of mouthfeel, depth of flavor, and complexity.  WTRB takes the finish as well.  It's not even close, which is a compliment to the WTRB.

I have no intention of flushing my WT101 down the toilet as a result of this side-by-side comparison.  In fact, just the opposite.  The side-by-side confirmed that I love both and will continue to keep both on hand for regular consumption and enjoyment.  Cheers!

Agreed.

$70.00??  For WTKS??

I pissed and moaned back when they could be had for $50.00.

That's an easy pass for this cheap bastard...

A blend of BT & Stagg Jr.  I just poured a bit of both into my glass. I didn’t measure them out, just seeing what fate brings me. I’m sure ER10 would be better than BT, but I don’t have an ER10 open, so…………. it works tonight though.
Have a happy weekend SB’rs

I can still get Kentucky Spirit for under $60.  If/when it goes up to 70 then yes I would probably pass too myself.

I enjoyed the blend, moving onto Belle Meade CS for a different experience. A good experience. :-))

The Belle Meade was nice, but I needed something more………….

Voila!

WTKS!   Yes!  As always. Wild Turkey to the rescue!

Whenever I am searching for the real bourbon experience, Four Roses or Wild Turkey seem to find me.  This time, WTKS.  A great balanced bourbon. This one tips between sweet aged oak and classic Wild Turkey spice. A great pour.  This will be fun.

Cheers

If it's a pick, and I can try it first, I'd pull the trigger for under $60.00.   I did just that a couple years ago.   We have a restaurant nearby that picked a barrel and it's spectacular and I had no problem paying.    Problem is the owner is hoarding it now.   All of the WTKS I've had is very good to outstanding...but it's not $40.00+ better than the 101 to me anyway.

We have another hurricane bearing down on us. So I thought I would have a good pour of bourbon before things got rough around here.
A good pour of WT split label will do good. :)

Been a long time for me with that one. Tasted in 08 or so, found a lone bottle a year later. Darned good.

As for the imminent hurricane, I know you know the deal Lloyd. Still, batten down the hatches, take care, stay safe and be well. And please keep us posted. 🤞🙏🤞🙏🤞

What's hitting the spot tonight as the Phils are locked in a close contest is Bulleit 95 Rye.    This is very flavorful stuff,  a bit short on age but still punching above its weight.

We came out good. No problem from the hurricane. My buddies on the Southeast side of the state did not come out so good.

We had a little bourbon group hurricane party last night. The theme was “the good stuff.”

Certainly some "good stuff" there!  What was your favorite pour of the night?
