Man Down-Man Up

I know I’ve posted a couple of times (well maybe more than a couple 🙄) about finishing a bottle of bourbon, then opening another bottle of the same bourbon. Being a moderator and trying to set a good example, (cough cough) I try not to double or cross post. This was a conundrum for me when I finished one bottle and opened another of the same. Should I post in the “Empty Bottle Support” forum, or in the  “What Bourbon Did You Open?” forum?  A bit anal I know, but what the heck. 🤷🏻  As I had the last pour from a bottle of BT this evening and set a new one on the shelf to be opened, it suddenly came to me. Why not start a new thread ya’ dumbass? 🤦🏻‍♂️ So, man down-man up. Cheers and happy posting y’all! 😁

Oooops. Sorry folks. I guess I had too much BT last night. I must have accidentally locked this thread when I posted it last night. It is now unlocked, and you may post as you wish. Again, sorry. I’ve never made a mistake like this before.  ⚡️  🤯  🫨

Really @mbroo5880i? Hells bells. There was just a little bit left in the bottle. 🤷🏻

Empty 750 of MM refilled from a 1.75. Yet another jump off the cliff. 🤗

And just like a David Copperfield magic trick.  You turned Buffalo Trace into Maker's Mark.  Even the buffalo in the bottom right of the photograph is wondering how the h... you did it.

Actually, I do the same thing refilling 750 ml bottles from 1.75 L bottles.

I like the idea of this new thread.  I know several times I have had the same conundrum ... "empty bottle or newly opened?"  If nothing else, it might show us all what our most purchased (or more accurately, most consumed) bottles are.  If members follow the concept.  I know I have some staple bottles that I will be posting here.

There once was a man named Joe

He was a Weller ‘hoe’

He bucked up and downed one

Then lucked out and found one

So Joe’s still a Weller ‘hoe’

From the "O" to the "S". Those last 2 ounces are gooooood!

I gave this one a thumbs up. If I could, It would be two thumbs up. 👍👍 Thanks @Thomm.

It makes my following post slightly lame by comparison. 🤷🏻

I don't usually finish off one bottle and then open up another of the same brand.     But there are two exceptions:   WTKS and Statesman.

I'm no Mod, but I approve this message.  After all, the thread title does not specify the type of spirit. :)

I really ain’t been drinking as much as it seems. Honest. I’ve been sharing some. Also, empty bottle(s) that I forgot to take off the shelf. Full bottle(s) that I put on the shelf that I forgot to open. As y’all know, I have CRS disease. 🫨

Easy fix.  Drink more, buy more.  Maintain equilibrium.

I've never had the 20, just the 16 and 13, both of which I enjoy immensely.  How do you characterize the 20 versus the other two?

So I'll discuss the notes on the 13, 16,18, and 20.i believe they are all pretty much the same distillate, but the aging and blending really causes the product to be different. Order of preference is how I'll lay this out. I'm omitting the hotch 16 for this discussion.

13 is my favorite, i find it plays as a well spiced rye, balanced in oak and a snickerdoodle. I will buy every one on site. 101.3 proof

20 has become a creamy leathery Carmel. It is delicate and rich. Heavy baking spices. Absolutely a rich and velvety pour. The only ethanol note is on the nose and finish. 112 proof

16 is a bit harsh in the glass. The bright sweetness i found in the 13 is gone, but the baking spice is starting to show some roundness. A bit of orchard fruit on the mid palate. This is the "hottest" of the lineup. 107 proof

18 is the sweetest on the nose. And the baking spices are dominant. I find the sip to be a little bitter. It has the heaviest oak out of all of the lineup. A bit of pear in the mix, but the finish is fantastic, with a little chocolate that stays with you for a while. 109 proof

The hotch 16 is actually my favorite, but at 123.8 proof it is a whole different animal, and I can see why they released it under the different name.

21 I do not own, but will eventually if finances permit. I'll keep you posted when I find one and have that kind of disposable income.

The vatted is OK, I bought a couple, they are mainly for guests who want to try it because of the black bottle. You can tell there is some adl in it, but ultimately it's not where the good bits went.

I am a huge fan of the adl from rj Cooper and son.
