Order of preference is how I'll lay this out. I'm omitting the hotch 16 for this discussion. 13 is my favorite, i find it plays as a well spiced rye, balanced in oak and a snickerdoodle. I will buy every one on site. 101.3 proof 20 has become a creamy leathery Carmel. It is delicate and rich. Heavy baking spices. Absolutely a rich and velvety pour. The only ethanol note is on the nose and finish. 112 proof 16 is a bit harsh in the glass. The bright sweetness i found in the 13 is gone, but the baking spice is starting to show some roundness. A bit of orchard fruit on the mid palate. This is the "hottest" of the lineup. 107 proof 18 is the sweetest on the nose. And the baking spices are dominant. I find the sip to be a little bitter. It has the heaviest oak out of all of the lineup. A bit of pear in the mix, but the finish is fantastic, with a little chocolate that stays with you for a while. 109 proof The hotch 16 is actually my favorite, but at 123.8 proof it is a whole different animal, and I can see why they released it under the different name. 21 I do not own, but will eventually if finances permit. I'll keep you posted when I find one and have that kind of disposable income. The vatted is OK, I bought a couple, they are mainly for guests who want to try it because of the black bottle. You can tell there is some adl in it, but ultimately it's not where the good bits went. I am a huge fan of the adl from rj Cooper and son. Excellent, thorough rundown --thank you! Great pic too! Those look great.

fishnbowljoe
My 2024 “Birthday Label” bottle of MM, down. My 2023 “Xmas Label” bottle of MM, up. I just put my order in for my 2024 MM Xmas label. Ho! Ho! Ho! FWIW, I was going to use “Joe 2024 Ho! Ho! Ho!” on my label. I couldn’t because they said ho was a restricted word.

fishnbowljoe
Well, here’s a couple more. As noted in the “What Bourbon Are You Drinking” thread late last week, I finished a bottle of Blanton’s. As for my 2023 Weller Blend, after giving a nice sample to a “friend”, there was just a sip left. Down the hatch It went in due course.

PaulO
I was surprised the last MMCS I just finished had a cork. Maker's had switched from cork to screw top years ago. I opened a regular MM after the CS was done. The regular MM was a screw cap. I don't know if there is return to cork, or only the higher end stuff. Kepler
I noticed that many of y'all's "Man Down / Man Up" posts do not show the new bottle being opened. Open up those new bottles guys! Otherwise they don't count in this thread - they are just backup bottles stored in your bunker! Edited December 8, 2024 by Kepler

I’m not sure about MM46CS (I haven’t purchased that one yet). Cheers

They also MM 1.75’s on sale for $37.99, so I bought one of them too. I forgot I had one already. I decanted a 1.75 of MM into a couple of empty 750’s. One empty was a MM 101. The MM 101’s also have corks.

My wheelhouse is 100-115 proof, so it's a pretty heavy hitter for me, and will last a while. It's the only OF that I like more than the 1920.. Over crushed ice is my favorite way to enjoy high proof (>~125) bourbon. The first few sips wake up those taste buds, then it mellows out as I mellow out.

IamMatt
Does anyone who does this compare the last of the old bottle with the first of the new? Might be interesting to pour the last of the old and the first of the new into 2 glasses for direct comparison.
