markandrex
Since we have transitioned over to Fall, we need a new thread. Nothing to report for me but it is definitely allocated season out there.

Davesnothere
We picked these up this morning at the distillery. Two different barrels and two wildly different proof points. According to the barrel date and the bottling date, they are 10 yr 11 mo and 3 days old. I'm a bit surprised by the proof. I thought one of the selling points of the Coy Hill releases was a very high proof. Well, as the saying goes, size doesn't matter. One these will be cracked tonight and I'll know for sure. Double C's
stopped by a couple of LS yesterday and grabbed a Cedar Ridge barrel proof for a cheap price to give it a try, and also a Green River barrel pick from a different store.

I read that the 2024 Coy Hill release is from the middle floors of the rickhouse whereas the first Coy Hill was barrels from the top floor. The middle floors being cooler than the top floor produced lower proof barrels. And, I think the age is higher on this release. Nonetheless, I'm very jelly that you got those as my chances of ever seeing it are probably zero. I got a hazmat bottle of the first release in the K&L lottery but they stopped doing the lottery this year...
LW25
Picked up a Bombergers and a Shenks yesterday at a favorite LS about an hour from me for $250 total. Only time I ever see these they're $250-300 each. I think MSRP is ~$110. Don't typically like paying >100 for a bottle unless it's ~125 proof or higher, but Michter's does lower proof so freaking well... JakeySnakes
1792 FP store pick. Talked to the store manager and he said it was distilled in Feb of 2016, so it’s a little over 8 years old. Gave me a sample before buying. It was good.
Thomm
Pays to ask. They were hiding them in the office, and apparently I am held in high enough regard, even without persuasive donuts. $45 plus tax out the door. I plan on a blind SBS tomorrow evening with regular 101.
JT3NSB
Kansas truly is the land of Weller.. SR anyway. It's everywhere... Mixed bag of prices. Most retail, some just odd. The RE was a interesting bonus find..

Are these really worth camping out/waiting in line? Call me skeptical. All the other JD SiB, Barrel Proofs, and store pick barrel proofs are sitting on shelves at MSRP around me and I just can't imagine the Coy Hill are that much better. Am I missing something?

fosmith
Ordered online a bottle of KC12 for $55. I don't see it often and, when I do, it's usually $65 or more. I think I had a bottle when it first came out before the pandemic but I really don't remember much about it. So, at that price and based on all the accolades it gets here, I decided to give it another go...

Did you get the chance to try the first Coy Hill release? It was, at least the bottle I had, far more rich and complex than the standard JDSBBP. I don't know if I'd wait in line for this release but, if I ever got the chance to buy one (or more), I would jump on it. I think Coy Hill is sort of Jack Daniels' Camp Nelson...

I never saw one. I read that they were excellent, but it just seemed to me a lot of the hype was centered around their hazmat, or near hazmat, proof. I really like the JDBP profile but it doesn't strike me as one that is capable of producing anything very complex worthy enough to chase a bottle. I'm open to being wrong however. It sounds like I have been missing out Thanks for your good feedback @fosmith. I trust your palate.

Bourserker
I'm pretty much at my max for buying this year, but I did pick up a Frey Ranch (the standard 90 proof bourbon) this weekend. Saw it while perusing one of the VA ABC stores. They're starting to get a lot of interesting stuff here in the state stores.
