What bourbon did you purchase this Fall 2024?

Out running errands and stopped by one of my regular LS.  They had called and told me to swing by for a special bottle.  This was offered with it for $65.999, why not.!

  I saw 4 cases behind the counter.

Finally found a Makers Mark Heart Release yesterday for $80. I was afraid I'd missed my chance completely as they seemed to have come and gone everywhere else I've looked. 

 

Two other bottles that were supposed to be more widely produced & distributed in 2024 (JD12 and Penelope Rio) were also on the shelf at this store, but closer to secondary unfortunately.

I was gifted the MM a couple of weeks ago.  It's the best iteration of MM that I've ever had.

I tried the donut trick and it didn't work too well.  I got kicked out of the store.  I took a picture of the donuts that I offered to my liquor store manager and the clerks.  I am not sure why it didn't work.  Maybe they don't understand how the process is supposed to work?

Found a flock of these birds in the wild last night.  Pulled out the trusty Benelli M2 Tactical from the trunk, loaded some rounds, and took four (4) of the run with one (1) shot.  Cleared them all - heh, heh.  When I was walking out with them back to the car, I remembered my own feelings about clearing a shelf and felt kinda' guilty . . . .  

 

So I grabbed one, walked back towards a young lady who remarked that she was looking for one of them for her husband and gave it to her.  Good karma for the upcoming Unicorn season, I hope.  Besides, she was really cute.

The holiday gift boxes come around every year (with the free swag).  Usually though, it's the most banal brands.

Interesting indeed.   Is this a sign the producers are having to be more creative in their marketing to move product?  During the glut era is when the ceramic decanter trend took off, as producers had to come up with different packaging options to sell product.  I'm probably making too much of this, but it's worth keeping an eye on it anyway.

That Camp Nelson Russell’s Reserve that is ten summers old is so good!  $75/bottle was a decent price as well:}

I haven't been to that store in a long time.  It looks like I should check it out.

In the distant past, I hauled all kinds of nice bottles out of the Keystone location, then they seemed to hit hard times.

I’ve decided to hold off on OGD 16 till I can get a pour at Beam in April (I also have never seen a bottle in person). 
My guilty pleasure distillery Limestone Branch put out a holiday 3 pack of 375s, a std 93p, a toasted and a rum cask finished. Tried them

all at the distillery and enjoyed the toasted and rum Finish quite a bit. The 750s are 50ish and the gift pack is 50 so it was an immediate buy. I certainly don’t need to add bottles so these 375s are ideal for tasting around without committing to the bigger bottle. The standard 93 proofer will be gifted.
