Double C's
got lucky and found a disco 12 today, caved in and picked up an OESK to try, plus burnt up some rewards points and got the ER's. The best part was watching a bottle of Van Winkle Rye get knocked over on the counter almost falling off of it and not breaking. Gave all of us standing there a scare.

Clueby
Got the Traveller as a gift from a coworker today. Stopped at one of @GeeTen's favorite shops today to sign up for their year end lottery and picked up a couple store picks. With the purchase you got a chance at some VW bottles at retail and also got to putt for extra chances. I did make one putt. But apparently I didn't win a bottle... drew for the 3 VW bottles at 8pm. Oh well..got a couple good PS Yellowstones.

I was fortunate to have bought all the recipes as PS CS store picks. In fact, the store would do a semi-annual pick of each with the label identifying which was the spring pick and which was the fall pick. They did this for several years with the price @$39.99 for a long time. They then increased to $44.99, then $49.99 and the grumbling began. They then disappeared for about 5 years only to return for double the price. They had a 10 recipe release in Fall 2013 that was hosted by Jim Rutledge. He poured and described each recipe. Several SB.com members attended. One of their picks from that era won the SF World Spirits Competition as the Best Bourbon in 2014. Yep, it was only $50. Crown picks are what first got me into Four Roses private selections. They had many great ones!
VWIndy
The Crown picks got me started with Four Roses as well. Jimmy Rutledge used to have tastings and sell them directly in Indianapolis. Man they were delicious when they had the gold neckbands.

This brought a tear to my eye. @benpearson and Andy were a big part of their stellar selection team. I am not sure Ben visits SB.com any more. Indy used to have a pretty big contingent in these forums. Edited December 25, 2024 by mbroo5880i

Double C's
My bourbon gifts I received this year. When I asked my mom if BT had any allocated bottles available while she was there i got a deer in headlights look from her. Guess I need to do a better job of educating my family members about harder to find bourbons. Has anyone used the barrel char while grilling/smoking?

They are still on the the young side but great. This is one of my favorite craft distilleries. Of course, @Whiskey Bender is a big part of their success. Enjoy! I have used the barrel char for smoking and found it to be great. The smell of it straight out of the bag is wonderful!
