Having a nice pour from an older Blanton”s.  It was a beautiful day down here, lower 70’s and sunny, it felt like Spring.

Bite me!  We had another 2" of snow last night - shovel in hand as I look into the sun!  🤬

How is that?

The reviews were so abnormally good that I actually bought one.

It's the only bookers in my bunker, as I'm typically not much of a fan of the brand.

It is a classic example of what Bookers should be.  I found six two years ago sitting in a dive store.  The clerk looked at me like I was nuts for buying that many.  I had one open and jumped at the chance of adding to the bunker.

At. 128. and 6 yr. 8 months, it is a wonderful  edition.

color is a dark amber.  Nose is Beam peanut with underlying currants and red fruit..

The palate is the same with a good rye spice finish and a gook KY. hug

The  finish is moderate with a hint of smoke.

I hope you enjoy yours.  Likely not replaceable but a good expression of what Bookers can be.

Sip Awhile was an above average Booker's.  I finished off my last bottle last fall and really enjoyed it.  Wish I had bought more.

A bit of Yellowstone toasted from the holiday 3 pack of 375s. I gifted the standard issue and pour both the rum finished and toasted. This one is from the toasted version. Its a fine weekday sipper, of the 3, I prefer the rum finish. I really like this packaging concept. 3 versions to explore for the price of a single 750 and as I have had them all at the distillery, I wanted to dive a bit deeper on the rum and toasted versions but wasn't interested enough for the full size.

Whelp. Been crazy busy. Drinking less, posting less.

Today got into another bottle of the always excellent Hardins Creek Series, here the Frankfort.

Special thanks to geclbxf for recommending these (and much else besides) to me. The oak is just perfect, not a box of toothpicks as one might expect at 17 years. Beam is nailing these...and there's not much secondary add-on to them.

Mmmmmmmm.

Old Reliable, version B522. One of the "lesser" ECBP's. Good enough for me, and still available at more or less MSRP in some quarters.

I'm personally debating with myself.   I think the debate may be reaching a conclusion.   Yup.   It's over.

I'll start with a small pour of WT101, moving thence to a small pour of Rare Breed, then onto a bigger pour of RR Single Barrel (picked by yours truly among about a half-dozen tasters for my local monger).   After those, we'll see if any further exploration of the Russell's distilling arts are called for....

More later . . . or not.

I'm fairly certain you won your debate with you.

He most certainly did. And very good choices were made.

I really, really like the older Beam expressions. "Older" starting at 12 years. Had the Bakers 13 yesterday. Wow, it hit the spot. No burn, lots of flavor. Less sweetness than Bookers which I initially thought meant more rye. Nope, same mash bill per Google, so more oak & age. Like some of the other older Beam releases, I do not taste the peanuts. I don't mind them; I also do not mind the lack of them. I think this may replace Bookers in my pantheon. I do want to try it against KC12.

Stuck on a weekend work trip.

The only choices were Benchmark or Jack 50ml’s, so I took the last couple Benchmarks.

The weather is a really nice 70 with low humidity today in FL.

Making the best of it.

Gettin’ low. Glad I have a backup. It’s all but disappeared near me.

By me as well.

I originally thought it would be a decent bottle count, getting slow rolled for awhile, but perhaps I was wrong.

Grateful for picking up some extra now.

Don't fret.  I have a feeling the new WT 8 year product planned for the US market will be pretty good.

I just created a thread over in the "Industry News" section that explains a lot of what Wild Turkey/Russell's Reserve has planned in the near future.  Go check it out ... Lots of interesting news if you are a fan of WT...

I decided to have something different for a change this evening. Long story short, I had a pour of a 2022 Woodford Reserve Masters Collection Batch Proof @ 118.4 proof. (I tried the 121.2 proof 2024 version a while back.)  Cheers! 😁

Had PHC 17 rye yesterday...one of my favorites. I love the viscosity & the gentle nuttiness. Followed up with a Peerless SP from Carmel, IN Giant Eagle...really good. I did not like Peerless until recently. Their older bottles struck me as young & expensive. This SP nails it. Especially after having been open for 9 or so months, that's been a consistent them for me.

Wow, $3.95 is a great price for a 375 ml bottle of Woodford Batch Proof. 😜

OGD 114.  One store raised it price to $30 while two other stores both lowered their price to $17.49 and $17.99, respectively.
