Bulleit BIB. Goes right into the double category of both “outstanding and dangerous “.

I wish all BIBs were like this.

I pulled a bottle of MM46 out of the bunker.  This is a nice easy pour to start the evening.

I grabbed a Weller SR out of the bunker. Been a bit since I had one open.

Easing our way into the weekend with wheaters eh @PaulO? 😉  Cheers!  🥃 😁 🥃

Moved from Rye to KC12, now onto WTKS.  This is the pour of the evening.  It is a PS from a few years back. It is spectacular. Honey n the lips.  Cheers to The Flock

Cheers

Yup, I agree - had it and the 20% Bardstown Origin wheater on my tasting table for The Grand Dram tasting for Go Whiskey Week @ Julio's.  After 3 hours of teeny, tiny sample pours of the two (2) wheaters, guess which one was barely touched and which one was almost gone (but quickly finished  😋) !

Yummo.  Will have to see what else is available when we have our tour and luncheon on Saturday in Bardstown . . . . 🥳

Isn't life beautiful???  🤩

WTRB Rye to start the evening. Might just stay with it for one more pour.

I had a nice pour (1.5-ounces?) of OGD114 this afternoon.   I came down with a cold yesterday, and decided one medicinal pour might help me feel better.   This is a kind of 'humid' cold and sometimes those can result in extra-special tasting abilities.   That happened today.   The usual characteristics were magnified, and a noticeable ginger note was prominent in front.   Almost like a gingersnap cookie when combined with the caramel and brown sugar I often find in this brand.

Wonderful!

However (predictably), I added some unpleasant symptoms to the already less-than-comfy ones I had.  So, the decision to stick with a single pour was probably a good one.   But, it was a very enjoyable pour while it lasted.

So I have a youtuber that i watch that camps in Minnesota that has enjoys HIgh West Campfire.  This piqued my interest and I looked at bottle but was unwilling to spend $80 for a bottle that I may not like.  Walked in my liquor store two days ago and Campfire was included in a storewide 25% discount as part of their St. Patricks day sale.  So I purchased a bottle.

I know that others on this forum have tried it with differing opinions.

Here are my impressions:

Campfire is a blend of rye, bourbon and scotch (source of the scotch is unnamed).

On opening the bottle, the dominant smell was the caramel note of the bourbon followed by the smokeiness of the scotch.

On nose on my first neat pour, the bourbon leads followed by the scotch.

First taste.  It was surprising sweet.  Upfront, you get the vanilla's and caramels of the bourbon followed by the malt and rye grain notes.  The smoke comes in at the finish.  It is not overpowering but adds to an oherwise fading finish.  Overall, I enjoyed it and it will be  good one for when we are sitting around a campfie.

Would enjoy hearing other thoughts.

Jim Beam Single Barrel, that I picked up on a quick overnighter business run to Greenville, SC.  At 108 proof, this definitely ups JB’s game.  Very much liking it.  Though I like Old Tub, this is juicier.  Reminiscent of Beam Bonded, which I liked very much.

For Moi, Juicy Beam, is good Beam.  When it adds on age, it tends to dry it out beyond my comfort zone.  So of course, I picked up a Knob Creek 12 year at the same time…🤪

In that you’ve gone to your fancy shmancy glass for it, the more fitting word in place of blame, is…thanks!  😄

Errrr......thanks!    Isn't that a cool glass?   Our son gifted me a set at Christmas after I raided his bar,  drank his Scotch and told him that I really like the glass.    I also told him that I really liked the 25 year Macallan in the glass,  but I didn't see a bottle of that under the Christmas tree....
