I have one from when we visited the distillery in 2017. It happened to be that the KCSB was on the bottling line they let us "bottle our own" I haven't cracked it yet, but plan too... I say the silver tag makes it better because back then, that was the only way to distinguish individual barrel information, and those were far less common. The whiskey - that brand has always been good to me, specially named barrel or luck of the draw.

The most informative label design were also from towards the end of that era when they had a map of the rickhouse layout where your particular barrel came from added to the back sticker. I still have one somewhere in the back of the bunker cabinets...
Kepler
Just finished off this old pine wood box Booker's last weekend. I had 3 of this batch and still have one more left.

I enjoy pretty much every iteration of KC that I've had...
IamMatt
Killed my bottle of Remus Repeal VII tonight. It's pretty dang nice. Kinda wish I had bought a backup but I will have to be content with my backups of V and VI.

The extra aged versions of KC didn't have their own labels at that time. I recall Steve (flahute) was all into that stuff.

VWIndy
I took this bottle out of the bunker with OK to good expectations. Turned out it was excellent
elmossle
No pictures, but removed empty bottles of KCSB, ECBP C922 and a bottle of Stagg Jr. from the cabinet this weekend. No the tough task of figuring out which 3 replacements get called up from the basement to the big leagues!!

Kepler
Good bottle for $50ish. But after I had the last pour of this one, I poured some 4R single barrel (the standard OBSV recipe at 100 proof) and I definitely preferred that over this, for slightly less money. fishnbowljoe
I ended up topping off my 750 of MM from a 1.75 cause I saw @smokinjoe did the same with WT. Talk about timing.
VWIndy
Shout out to Paul O for recommending the Hard Truth bourbon from Nashville, Indiana. I would have never bought this whiskey but the sweet mash wheated was very good for being young.
Swamp55
This latest batch of empties includes some good ones. The 4RSmBS has become a regular favorite in my house. My wife, particularly, is fond of it. The WT Decades is one I have been slowly drinking down over the last two or three years. A really nice, very refined, example from that fine distillery. Too bad that I have no more of it. The Calumet 16 is a splurge, price-wise, but I have become a real fan over the last couple of years. I only crave it occasionally, but it really hits the spot at those times. Big-time cherry and oak! The Barrell Foundation has taken a slot in the regular rotation with me. I am a fan, in general, of the Barrell brand and I am happy that a consistent, reasonably-priced offering is regularly available from those excellent blenders.
fosmith
Sorry to see this one go. A K&L pick from several years ago. The regular JDSBBP is always good, but this store pick was at another level. The good news is that they no longer upcharge these store picks so I yesterday I got a replacement for $65. The new one is a bit lower proof at 127.2 so we'll see how it stacks up.

fishnbowljoe
I’ve made a little room on my open shelf lately. Now that I have a few empty spots, I gotta figure out what to open. FWIW, I’m glad we have the gigantic trash and recycle bins on rollers. The last two weeks we’ve had Winter Weather Advisorys and haven't taken our trash to the curb. Cold but clear today.

If I drop his name at a K&L, do I still have to pay CA sales tax??? If you come to any liquor store in Taxachusetts, New Hampshire or Rhode Island and drop my name, you won't have to pay any sales tax! Fair is fair! I was mad at CA's 10-percent-ish sales til I visited my son in Seattle and paid twice that for booze.

If you do, they'll probably charge you extra, lol. Actually, I haven't been in any of their stores in years because none are convenient to where I live. I buy everything off their web site, which is deadly because it's easier to order from than Amazon. Once I accumulate enough stuff in will call, I have it delivered for a very reasonable fee. Yeah, we're lucky that we don't have an excise (or sin) tax on booze.
