Kepler
The Rittenhouse old fashioned hit the spot. And side benefit is that I was left with a couple of luxardo cherries in the bottom of my glass. Just got rid of most of the ice and poured in some Redemption 10 year BP rye ... very tasty.

Wedelstaedt
Earlier was enjoying a bit of the Scotch variety. But, it is Happy FRyeDay after all. So WTMK Cornerstone in the glass now. Ahhhh, slipping into FRyeDay, here comes the weekend. Happy FRyeDay

Kepler
Happy fRyeday SBS! I've been wanting to do this comparison since I bought the OO10CS a year ago. Today is the day. 10 yr CS Beam rye vs 9yr CS Beam rye. For the KC, I went with the 2018 bottling instead of the 2019 because the proof is a closer match with the OO.

Anwalt
OE7 yesterday. I love that rye. Great bang for the buck. Lots of flavor & high viscosity, especially for the proof, 117 in this case. No burn, none, zero.
Kepler
22 hours ago, Wedelstaedt said: How did it turn out? Both were excellent. For me, it was a wash, as they taste like the same whiskey. The OO10 nose was better than the KC, presumably due to the extra year. The taste was practically a dead heat, not much separating the two. For fun, I also compared these to the Old Overholt 92.6 proof 11 year. I preferred that one the best, probably because of the lower proof. I haven't purchased the new OO11 Cask Strength so cannot comment on how that one stacks up to all these.

I wonder, if they are from same distillation batch, then the OO was aged an extra year then tanked. Cheers

I just figured since they are the same whiskey they can taste very similar year to year. As much whiskey as Beam makes, they surely have consistency down to a science.

Richnimrod
Cool to see the bigtime bottles you hauled out for Fryeday 0895! My last bottle of T.H. Handy bit the dust shortly before Christmas last year. Sad to see the last of that one. No Saz Rye for a few years now. Rave on, my friend!

Your last one? That's a BIG new crack, ... I know it's probably your favorite LS&B. But very well done ... Enjoy with good friends!
Thomm
Enjoying the heck out of the last two ounces of a New Riff straight rye. Just a fabulous, mellow nose and very inviting all-around sip. If you will indulge a truly awful metaphor, it drinks like a comfortable pair of slippers. Okay, that's a simile. Regardless, this is will be a repeat purchase.
