While I'm not the biggest fan of toasted or double oaked bourbons, I've liked the few rye whiskeys I've tried. Seems like rye lends itself to the sweetness that toasted barrels provide, more so than bourbons which are already sweet enough. I haven't seen that EC toasted rye yet, but I did recently pick up the Hard Truth Double Oaked rye, which I'm looking forward to opening soon. Mattk
The girls are out of the house tonight so it's just me. I'm having another ec toasted rye tonight while I cook this steak. I've got to work in the am though, so only one or two pours tonight.

I generally love their offerings I've not had their ryes except for the basic Seagrass version. I did not like it - the finish struck me as rather saccharinish. Now, that was a few years ago. I gave the bottle to a fan of it. My palate has changed, so maybe I'd like it now...it's rare for me to dislike something so much that I immediately give it away, as opposed to sitting on it for round two in a few months, round three in a year, etc. I really like their bourbons - well done, and well priced. I'm super open to trying their ryes. Any suggestions?

Hell of a lineup! I'll have to try the Lawrenceburg. I love the M10. Just acquired Triumph ($200, taxes included, St Maarten). I liked it, not sure I $200 liked it. Jury's out for a second taste. 14 hours ago, markandrex said: Kicking off FRyeday with Middle West Dark Pumpernickel rye. Some really nice rye out of Columbus. I'll have to try that one. I’m not old enough to remember when they had a professional baseball team though. All kidding aside, Ovi is a legend
Mattk
These JDSBBSRs are still an incredible value. It's hard to pick anything else on the shelf when a particularly good bottle is open.
markandrex
It has been raining here for about three days and supposed to continue through tomorrow. I have never seen local rivers and creeks this high. Lost River Cave is reporting 60” inches above normal and a new record. The cave is completely submerged. I decided to go deep in the bunker for this. It has been many years. I be believe it is some HH rye rebranded by Willett. A very nice rye either way! Edited April 6 by markandrex

I've been watching the radar when our local weather folx show it in the wider-area forecasts and reports. It's been looking very scary-wet down in the The Motherland this late Winter and early Spring. Hang in there, my friend . . . stay as dry as you can. Not figuratively, drink whatever you feel is appropriate; but, really: Stay Dry!

Those old MGP distilled 4-8 years from Willett are often fantastic with lots of black pepper and dill. Also, if your luck is anything like mine, you have a nice cut in your felt now. It's a bit pricey, but I stocked up when it was heavily discounted on sale. I still prefer Sagamore 8 or 9 year rye, especially if both are at regular MSRP. I believe Sagamore is a blend of two different MGP recipes, and I doubt the Redemption is. That's why I say Redemption has a "classic" MGP rye flavor .... it has a very noticeable dill note, whereas I don't get much (or any) dill from Sag 8/9.
