If you like the oak....then you'll probably like the Double Oaked. They have some finished whiskey, but I've never tried them because I'm not a big fan. I really, really need to get to the distillery, (it's only 15 minutes or so from the house), to try a few different ones.. Thank you. All of the ones you listed above are fairly easy to come by here. It's interesting what is easy here is difficult elsewhere and vice versa

The peerless double Oaked is also intriguing If you come across the 8 or 9 year bottles they are really something special. But pretty much everything they have is good.
Anwalt
Headed to the doctor’s office tomorrow. Turns out he loves rye. Which is not really sold much here in PR. So a care package helps the world go round.

I wanna try the 9yr but the price is holding me back, or is that cheap bastard in me that is keeping me from reaching for the wallet??

Store pick (most of these are 110 proof) and I think the "Cask Strength" (non store picks) are probably just as good if you don't see a pick 4. Sherry Finish The Port finish is actually right up there at the top but it's a very limited annual release and almost impossible to find. Good luck and let us know what you end up with!

I will likely pick up a cask strength as it's the easiest to find

Wedelstaedt
Sipping on an new on for me. JD BiB Rye. I like it. For me, I think Jack Daniel’s does rye better than Tennessee whiskey/bourbon. I say this one is a buy, especially if you find it $25 or lower. Oh yeah, and Happy FRyeday!
markandrex
I burned off some brush in the bonfire last night. Unfortunately I have much more to do. It really has piled up and without my boys around it has gotten ahead of me. Anyway I took a bottle of Peerless Rye with me that was a store pick from 5 years ago. It has a wonderful spearmint note in the mid palate. A couple of neighbors saw the flames and smoke so it turned into an evening of hotdogs, chips and s’mores with rye. Happy FRyeday!
smokinjoe
I was at the Monger’s earlier today, and noticed the New Riff Balboa Rye on the shelf. While, it may have been in Georgia for some time, I’ve never seen it. Couldn’t resist picking it up.

I've been keeping my eye open for one of those locally, but so far, they are not available here. I've heard good things. I'll keep an eye out for one. Mattk
I ran out of baby saz while cooking today. So I'm switching to a ritt store pick. They are not similar at all. But both won't mess with my palate to badly while making the meal.

If you join the New Riff Whiskey club, they'll keep you updated on the latest releases. They make them available to Whiskey Club members before they're offered to the general public. A few of them are "one of" releases, but I believe that some of them are available early, before they're released everywhere and shouldn't be too hard to get. The catch is that you, or someone you designate, has to pick them up at the distillery. Fortunately for us, a friend of ours lives almost across the street from New Riff, so she picks them up for me and mules them North during football season.
Scotch_Collector
Had a starlight tasting. I'll discuss the bourbon in the appropriate thread, but the rye is excellent. I found the rye for a friend who had the honey barrel bourbon already and is generally not a huge rye fan. He loves this bottle. The Rye is finished in the honey barrels that held the bourbon, as I understand it. It is a store pick for First Fill Spirits in Saratoga Springs NY. Shout out to Holly and Charles - great bottle. Balanced. Sweet honey on the nose. On the palette, there is honey, and a deep floral honey, but it is not overpowering. There is also nice rye spice, but again, balanced, and you get nice rye/white pepper spice, but just enough. The finish is a good combo of both with a little more of the rye influence and a little less honey. Overall, great bottle. 8.5/10
