Scotch_Collector
Never heard of Kinsey before but when I saw cask strength rye, finished in Amarone casks, and for $55, I had to try it. It is a store pick for WorldWide Wine & Sprits in Connecticut. It is good, really good, especially for the price. The nose is full of rich red wine notes and the palette doesn't disappoint. Rich grape and wine notes with some fruity and rye sweetness followed by a nice rye peppery (mild pepper) finish. Wow. I really enjoyed it and recommend it highly. Not sure how similar this is to other offerings of Kinsey's, but this was great. 8.75/

I saw a deal for 4 of the usual Michter's varieties (Sour Mash, Bourbon, American Whiskey, Rye) for $119. That seems like an awesome price. rzelinka
I bought the Peerless Double Oaked Rye. It was really good. Didn't taste like the usual rye.

But I haven't had it in several yrs and my memory doesn't work like it once did. The price seems very reasonable. If anything make cocktails with them.

Haven't tried the others. That said, the bundle is more than fairly priced

Thomm Posted yesterday at 01:22 AM Share Posted yesterday at 01:22 AM Sitting outside burning up the severed pieces of an old wooden ladder in the fire pit. Old Forester Rye seemed like the recommended pour for such activities as this. The neighborhood frogs are trilling their approval.

I wasn't crazy about the initial pours a year ago, and hoped it would be better now. It's not. I'm drinking the Widow Jane, just to get the taste out of my mouth.

Kepler
Happy fRYEday. I decided to crack open my HH GtG Rye. I purchased this back in February after resisting the urge for months to buy another expensive rye. I had read positive tasting notes from fellow SBers that were encouraging and tempted me. Then I think the price dropped at my local store by ten to $90 for awhile, ... which proved to be just enough to entice me to pull the trigger. Hah, ... I know we've all been there before My initial tasting feedback... If I tasted this blind I'd imagine that Four Roses finally made a straight rye whiskey that some have been clamoring for. Very strong minty notes, mixed with spicy rye bread. This is only my first pour, so take with a grain (no pun intended) of salt. This is right down my alley for a rye whiskey. Now I can understand why this is priced the way it is. I'm going to enjoy this bottle, and time will tell, ...might even pick up a backup.

Historically, I could only tolerate them in an old fashioned or Manhattan but the Sagamore and Peerless Double Oaked have me starting to enjoy what they have to offer. I have a Redskins t-shirt in my collection. They'll always be the skins to me notwithstanding why they changed the name of the team. By the way, I think the Jack Daniels Bonded is excellent at its price. I would imagine the rye is equally good.
