What rye are you drinking or purchased 2025

I've visited the Bulleit Rye several times since opening.  It had been some lapse of time prior to that for me having anything from MGP.  The 95% rye, if handled correctly (aged long enough in a good warehouse, bottled at 90+ proof) is quite nice.  I wonder if anyone has done a side by side Bulleit Rye/Dickel Rye.  Aren't they basically the same thing, except Dickel runs it through maple charcoal.

I had a lucky find in a popular liquor store today. I couldn't believe they still had one. Not lucky enough there was more then one. If you ever see one I recommend picking it up. This is one of a few buy on site bottles i have.

Back in the day when I was in the Army, I had Spirytus long before it was ever sold in the US. A fellow band member was first generation US/Polish. He received “gifts” from time to time from family members in Poland. The Spirytus actually arrived in a goat skin bag. We had a unit party just before he was transferred to another duty station. He made sure that everyone had a swig of his Spirytus. Tilt your head back, open your mouth, squirt, next.

Yup, polish whiskey, finished in bourbon and American rye casks. I love it, and I'm mostly skeptical of proof and wood stuff. A few senator picks and some of the tumbling dice picks have been really good. But proof and wood has been more miss then hit for me. Anyway this particular run was called the stranger and it is amazing. It drinks like a really well balanced high rye rye, but with somehow just more flavor. It reminds me of a really good michters 10 rye if you brought the proof up to 105 and canceled out any of the stone fruit flavors.

So it was a heck of a frustrating day. Fryeday it is, just one today as I still do work tomorrow. I wince a bit every time I pour from this bottle as it feels like it is getting quite low. But that doesn't detract from my enjoyment of the liquid in the glass. Cheers.

Interesting.  I've never heard of it before.  Sounds great though.

Well if it makes you feel any better, just remember the glass bottle is black and you can't see the level inside.  Just tell yourself that it's still 3/4 full ... no anxiety!  🙂

I'm climbing a mini Sagamore ladder tonight:

6 yr BiB 100 proof Maryland rye

7 yr 110 proof store pick Indiana rye

9 Year 112.6 proof Indiana rye

All are excellent in their own way.

Happy fRYEday!
