A bottle of the 13 year arrived this week. I plan to open mine this weekend. I haven’t seen the other bottle before. What is different about it?

Need to work on whittling down the ECBP stash, so reached into the box and randomly grabbed a bottle to open tonight.

B521.

Seems to drink a bit hot for 118.2p.

It’s good, but while lacking a bit in complexity, it is fairly well balanced.

Lots of caramel and vanilla.

We’ll see how it develops with some air.

Great picture. Love what you did with the cork

All this EH Taylor talk has reminded me that I didn't have a bottle of the regular Small Batch open.  And to my point in another thread regarding price, I paid $33.99 for this bottle in 2018.  This one tastes like what it is: an elevated tasting experience over the regular BT bourbon and bottled at 100 proof.  The flavor still shows that familiar  tie to the great Old Charters of yesteryear.  An excellent example of a true classic bourbon.  Cheers! 🥃🦬

I could not agree more. I found many bottles on the shelf of my local total wine last month. I was shocked, I paid just under $60 for this and thought to myself, it’s still a bargain at this price given what the secondary market has these prices at. That aside, I remember when it was $40 not too long ago.

Then just this weekend, I was at a specs in another part of town. They had 37 cases on hand.

I am still looking for this. Found the barrel proof variety which was quite good

Sadly, I don’t think they do 90p picks anymore.  You might stumble upon a dusty if you look hard in the backs of shelves in out of the way places though…

It was kinda the opposite for me in my area for a while. No OF BP picks, but one store did a 90 proof one a while back. I bought one and really liked it. It didn’t seem to sell very well. Over the course of 3 or 4 months I bought about a case. I still have one left. Then they did a BP pick. Of course  I bought one. I liked it well enough, but it was almost too hot. I didn’t buy another one.

I have to agree that many of the BP picks are obnoxiously hot.

The good ones are really darn good though.

I've learned to try before buying with those.

FWIW, to me, the 90 proofer drank more like a really nice BIB

I was skeptical and thought it would taste similar to Larceny, of which I’m not a fan, but I’ll admit that I was wrong and first impressions are good!

Great find. I noted the heaven Hill grain to glass aside the Old Fitzgerald. How are those?

I was impressed by them.   They re all 3 unique and don't taste like any of the other bourbons, ryes, or wheated bourbons produced by Heaven Hill, which shouldn't have surprised me since they use different mash bills and grains.   If I had to rank my favorite, it would be the traditional bourbon, followed by the Rye.   The Wheated bourbon was good, but not as good as the traditional bourbon or rye.   Just my opinion.

Finally!

I’m a big fan of the blue label bottle, but everyone keeps trying to tell me Im wrong and that the rye and wheat are the best.

Luckily we know the truth.
