What is GBS? Why is 12 crossed out and 15 written in? What is the amnesia btl? Ect.....??? I think GBS is short for Georgia Bourbon Society. Note the OP lives in Georgia. I assume this bottle is from a private barrel selection by that group. Now, please don't hurt me...

No OF BP picks, but one store did a 90 proof one a while back. I bought one and really liked it. It didn’t seem to sell very well. Over the course of 3 or 4 months I bought about a case. I still have one left. Then they did a BP pick. Of course I bought one. I liked it well enough, but it was almost too hot. I didn’t buy another one. I've been on the lookout for this one to complete my trifecta of single barrel offerings from Old Forester. The barrel strengths are very good at a very affordable price point. It has a lot going on with floral notes on the nose, but rye forward and citrus on the palate. lucky you. I've heard some wonderful things about this one. smokinjoe
Indeed, GBS is for Georgia Bourbon Society. Our first barrel selection was for the standard EC12, and we kinda lucked into getting the second one at barrel proof. We called it the “Amnesia Barrel”, since it took so long to get it bottled, we almost forgot we had it!! It should have been 14 years old, but since it took a year to get bottled, it ended up being 15 yo.

I wad trying to find info in the archives and it appears that pick was at least 9yrs ago? How does the 15yr EC BP taste? As for taste, it’s very rich. Heavy, even. It handled the 15 years well, and isn’t overboard on the oak.

This bottle came to me via @gurgalunas in my SB FF winnings. Enjoyed the first pour! Sweet caramel, brown sugar, and vanilla buttercream up front, a little cinnamon on the finish. 121.1 proof so added a couple ice chips after the first sip. A very nice dessert pour I'm thinking!
