Btw It was worth the wait! It’s all good @MSB. I was just getting ready to start a new thread. My wife, our dil, and our granddaughter are up in Wisconsin on a college visit. I made a run to Sam’s Club to pick up a few things we needed. As always, I checked out the liquor area. Mostly the same old things with one exception. There were a few bottles of BT on the shelf. It’s been months since I’ve seen BT at Sam’s. It was priced right too at $25.98. So, one came home with me. Not long after I got home, a cd I recently ordered arrived. Bourbon and jazz. Win-win.

GeeTen
Yup - barrel was dumped on her (actual) birthday. He's going to give it to her on her 21st birthday in 12 years! Kewl, huh? Edited March 21 by GeeTen

I bought one a couple of days ago and I was impressed. Like you, I love the 4 year old New Riff and this one takes it up a notch. Compared to the 4 year old, I got less vanilla and caramel and more fruit notes on the palate. It's a good one.

fosmith
Today I ordered online from K&L three bottles of Larceny BP B524 for $41 each. I recently finished a bottle of this and really liked it; it has a great nose and layered flavors. I was planning on getting a backup but, when I saw it in the Insider's Advantage email, I had to get more than one at that price.
flahute
I’m in Florida and found the new 4R single barrels of the different recipes at 100 proof. Bought the OESK. Will probably get an OBSF if I make a big enough dent in this one.
fishnbowljoe
With regards to @Skinsfan1311: “But dumping the contents of the newer paper-labeled MM101 into those beautiful earlier embossed bottles is encouraged .” I was out and about today. Need I say more? Now I won’t feel so bad about opening up my embossed MM 101. Thanks @Skinsfan1311.

On top of that, I’d meant to save my last embossed MM 101, but ended up putting it in the recycle bin. Silly me, I forgot.

Tell us what you think of your new purchase, when you open it up. Cheers So I was able to try before I buy cuz I was at a "good" liquor store that allows that and has good pricing on their inventory. 1st off my nose is shot. My palate is not much better and I can only say if I like it or not and is it worth my $$$. In reverse order... 90+$ prolly not worth it from just a sample point of view but it was good enough for me to buy 2. Part of that logic was to build a relationship with the owner of the pick and I DO like my OF products. So I am sure I will enjoy it either way. Or I would not have bought 2. I can build a relationship with a 1 btl purchase but the looming regulars allocated phone call is pending and I am in search of some of those rare-ish btls, so suck up buttercup is my thought! Lol I don't do doughnuts or bake cookies. Lol maybe something I should adopt. Palate... Starts off like most OF products, at least for me, sweet red fruit, cherry cola flavor that moves towards the middle of the tongue and that is where the 134+ pf kicks in. Not over bearing ethonol but noticeable. Maybe I need a Mickey D's size ice cube to tame and open it up some. As it moves to the finish i do not recall what happened. As it moved and lingered in the latter finish i got tobacco and maybe a little leather. Overall the mouth feel was nice and chewy. The nose was pleasant. Not a strong etoh effect going on but would say a typical OF nose. It definitely did not drink like a hazmat liquid. I am glad the LQ store owner poured a decent sample to try and enjoy. I hope once i open it and have a few more rotations with it, i may be able to expand on the above notes but for now I am pleased with my purchase.

Richnimrod
I stopped at my local monger (from whom I've bought almost exclusively for 15-years +) just to acquire some liquor boxes. My daughter is moving homes and needs some more to (mostly) complete the transition this weekend. They make excellent protective transport for glassware, etc! Anyway, I was offered a taste of his latest private pick, RRSB. Only 9+ years old; but, a stellar pour! So, of course I had to take one home with me. I'd have grabbed two; but, didn't have that much cash on hand. @ $75, not cheap; but, as I said: Wonderful Whiskey! (Actually, I've only ever tasted one private pick of RR that wasn't excellent.) It'll probably be a while before I uncork this, though. I have so much stuff open, it's obscene!
Double C's
it's been a long time since I've bought a bottle of EHT. Very seldom see one, and when I have the price was too marked up and I would pass on them.

Hard to get that flavor profile for less that $100, at least that is what I have found in the North East.

The store I got it from was doing package deals to be able to buy the EHT at what I believe is msrp these days, and the cigar blend Wheel Horse was the bottle that looked the most interesting to me of the available choices. Most were ryes, and I am not really a fan of ryes. Breaking Bourbon gave it a decent review, but I will have to open it and find out for myself.
smokinjoe
Is the Wheel Horse a Green River labelRelease, or did they just contract distill/supply aged barrels/etc/ for Wheel Horse?
