Phil T
I see WSR and Buffalo Trace in my area regularly. Everything else from that distillery is unobtainium. Prost!! Phil
Skinsfan1311
I had a $50.00 gift card for my favorite LS, so I made the trek and snagged this. I lucked out because it was on sale, so the gift card covered it, including taxes, with a $0.98 balance remaining the card. As an added bonus, the guy gifted me the JD Caps glass. I didn't quite get out of there with my wallet undamaged....I took the ride because they were the only place that has one of my favorite beer releases for a good price.
Clueby
My brother and I were just up the street when a FB post went out re a store pick WFP release. We headed over and found 3 bottles remaining. The sign said you had to pick a store pick of something else to purchase the WFP for 67. I picked up one and told my brother to pick up a bottle. He thought I was saying to pick out the second store pick. I said it two more times. One of the remaining bottles got snagged. I was like..."pick up the &=$&ing bottle!" He got it that time! Although 3 more bottles did get set out later so didn't get THE last one. We each picked a different Yellowstone pick as our 2nd bottle. Cracked open one of the WFP when we got home...tasty stuff. Took it to a friends the next night. Its half empty already. And no, the second bottle isn't for me. He is taking it home to Cali to enjoy with his wife. He just didn't know how rare it is to snag one at retail.
Clueby
While bro was in town we also hit up another store that had all the Penelope stuff on sale. This one is my (and Mrs. Clueby's) favorite of the lineup and was about 15 off its normal price. He also got a couple bottles of the "Corncob" whiskey from a defunct distillery. They were something like $7 a bottle and actually pretty decent. I've had worse for more money! I may pick up a few more for mixer or freezer whiskey.

I call em my guilty pleasure bottles, I've visited the distillery several times (its a beautiful little place) and on each visit I find one of those I just can't leave without.

I've got 3 different picks here now. Four if you count the one he got. Might be time for a sbsbs.

I see some of the different Yellowstone on shelves around here. I haven't tried any. My impression was they are an NDP that sources barrels from at least one of the legacy distillers. If I had an idea who made it, it might be more interesting.

Exactly why I classify them as my guilty pleasure bottling. To manage "over acquiring", I put some parameters in place several years ago, one of which was NO NDPs. Its not that they can't be good/GREAT, but I am more than satisfied with the selections available to me from sources/distilleries I can identify and I have chosen to favor actual distillers when purchasing. That said, I visited Limestone Branch and thought those black labels were really nice looking and got a flight of the available bottlings of which I think there were 3 on that visit, one of them absolutely blew me away. I decided then and there, F' it, this is too good to pass up ( and those bottles ARE damn attractive!!. I have heard HH and Barton as possible sources, LUX ROW seems so obvious not to mention MGP but despite trying, I have no confirmation of the source distillery/s for the YL Hand selects. I still drop in there when in the area and have yet to leave without one, got them on my schedule for Thursday a.m. so we shall see what this year has in store . I won't be a bit surprised if I walk out with yet another, just as clueless about the responsible distiller as I was years ago. C'est, la vie!!

I believe their basic stuff is distilled at Limestone Branch but I'm not sure about the single barrel/store pick stuff. I THINK at least some of those are distilled there as well. Their older limited releases are obviously sourced.
NDN98
I have not bought anything in a few weeks, but got a call from a store today that they had a JD 12 Year for me and I also bought the Penelope Wheated bourbon, which I’ve heard great things about.
