What Bourbon Are You Drinking Spring 2025?

Opened up some bottles from the trip to Kentucky.

I have not had any alcohol for 3 weeks. Is normal after such a spell that "everything tastes hot"? Both bottles did. I know they were neck pours...but not really high proof.

I'll let them sit for a few months as is often my habit.

This "7" year SP went 11 years & 8 months. Definitely has that Beam flavor.

PS: Thanks Gen Tee!

The other fresh open that burned more than I expected (that is, "at all") was the OF High Angel's share. I remember trying it (same version) at a friend's place and really liking it.

I have only had a pour at the distillery. Not this particular btl but one a couple yrs back. I have no memory of what it was lime other than I loved it.

Tell me more please!

As I have to live vicariously through SB on A LOT of bourbons I can not get.

I don't know about anyone else, but after I've had a dry spell without any alcohol, when I do have a pour, ... "everything tastes GREAT" :)

My palate was so off that I did not get much from it. I will share my notes - crude as they are - next time around.

I drink a fair amount of SFTB and consider myself "familiar" with it. Tried some 120.2 proof ("low", I like it a lot, usually) as a test. HOT HOT HOT and not my normal experience as to the taste, not at all. So I'm off. Hopefully temporarily.

I’m excited to crack open the Old Forester 1924, 10 year tonight. I’ve been looking for a good deal on this since last summer. Can’t find it in Texas.

What is this 'dry spell' of which you speak?

Oh thank God. My palate is returning. Had a RR13. It tasted as it ought.

We took advantage of a dry day and worked outside all day.  Came in and 1792 bib seemed to be the right choice for the evening.

Did you have a little too much to drink at The General Nelson or some of the other places we dragged you to help our souls feel wanted?????  🥳

Was re-setting gut biome. Alcohol lamentably interferes with that.

That table!

Bourbon Joe did it again - that 1982 OWA/Stitzel-Weller. Never had anything like it. He did something similar 2 years ago. A 10y JW Dant from 60's. Never would have had something like that but for him. I helps understand what you guys mean by The Good Old Days.

Everything there was great - I was really pleased to try the OF BB 13 with the mutant yeast - thanks to kcgumbohead!

Given my lightweight tendencies, I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot. Cheap date & all.

My long awaited wait to sample Old Forester 1924 has come to an end. My bottle arrived yesterday and I had my first pour last night. It was good. Oddly, I preferred the King Ranch variety. That aside, I am not disappointed.
