This is a really good bourbon at it's price. I have a C924 and a A125

Giving a test drive with the latest version of EC BP that I have found. 

Tha A125, 118.2pf, 10yrs 7mo.

 

I am terrible at nosing so all I will say is that it smells like bourbon.

The palate, I am not much better at but, I got apple right of the bat with my first sip.

Now after a few more sips I picked up red fruits. A lil vanilla. Not sure if I am confusing the slight ethanol burn with cinnamon?? Also pick up mild caramel. 

I get an oily finish as well.

Overall, I like it!

Next up was HH HC 19yr Wheat Whiskey.

 

Man this is delicious. Thank goodness this does not taste anything like Berheim with the same mashbill. 

I don't mind buying a dram but buying a btl if I were to find it close to msrp would be a difficult decision to throw that amount of cash down for it, especially without tasting it first. Now that I have had a sample, I would be tempted to reach for the wallet.  Oh, it would hurt though.

I know which one I'd like to drink.   I saw on the ECBP site where B525 was released.  126 .2 proof, aged  11yr/6mo.

 

That's even higher proof than my 1792 Full proof at 125.

 

Now I have to hunt it down.    How much time does it usually take (ball park) until a released batch gets to the retail market? Also, how can we tell the yield of this batch? If its a much smaller yield, it may affect things considerably,

I wrote about the Rye in the Rye section. Excellent bottle. 

 

Both bottles are owned by my friend who loves both sweet and finished bourbon. 

 

This store pick Starlight Honey Barrel Bourbon is from Beverage King in Norwalk CT. It goes for about $67. 

 

It is nice if you like honey, and what a great honey flavor. Dense, rich, and floral. Really unique. 

 

My trouble with this bottle is it a more honey than bourbon. It is not balanced. If you like honey it is excellent. It is also aged in a honey barrel, not infused, so it is a legitimate (IMO) finished bourbon. It is just a lot of honey and more of a desert bourbon than anything. For that, I love it, but I'd have to be in the mood for it. 

 

Really nice bottle, but if you are looking for a balanced bourbon, it probably isn't your thing. 

 

I give it an 8/10 because of its uniqueness and price combo.

Finished off a Baker's 13 with Mrs. Clueby earlier so staying in the family. I prefer the Baker's a bit but the KC18 is a darn good pour. I'm trying to clear some low fill bottles out.

I used to get hit with the Vitamins, just a firehose of vitamins. But in recent years , not so much. Has become an enjoyable pour.

It may take a month or so depending on where you are (I'm in Missouri and it generally takes that long). 

If the last few batches have available in your area, I'm sure the new will be findable. That age and proof aren't abnormal for ECBP. They used to always be over 130 proof. Now they vary from 116 to 135.

I was able to sample this at a dinner last week. In a word, it's heavenly. I will be adding a bottle to my collection

At the price for an 18 year, I think it's one if not the best value. I prefer this over the Elijah Craig 18. After drinking both in a blind, I know appreciate what it means when someone says a bourbon is oaky. The Elijah Craig smells very oaky

I went for a bottle of Weller CYPB yesterday and came home with a bottle of EH Taylor Barrel Proof instead as the former was already gone. It's a very good bourbon. Glad I added it to my collection. Much more enjoyable than the small batch variety

I found a bottle of 1792 Bottled in Bond yesterday at the same place I found the EH Taylor Barrel Proof. At the $50 price point, it was enjoyable. Now I am out searching for the sweet wheat and my 1792 collection will be complete.

I was very pleasantly surprised when I got my hands on a bottle of the 1792 BiB.

I really enjoy Dickel white label (was #12, is it called Signature, now?).

 

But, I picked up the local Total Wine’s selection of the 80 proof 15 year, and hated it.  It was atrocious.  I think the selectors were simply looking for the driest and woodiest of woody notes as possible, during their selection process, and nothing else.  
 

Obviously though, some very nice bottles exist, as testified to, here.

I have the Full Proof, Single Barrell Store Pick from Specs and Small Batch. They're okay. I would not run out and replace the Small Batch or Single Barrell. I would probably replace the Full Proof and Bottled in Bond

I recently had the opportunity to try both the KC 18 and the EC 18, not blind or side by side but, a pour of the EC following a pour of the KC.  The KC was oaky but with delicious sweet oak.  The EC was oaky but with an astringent finish that I did not like at all.
