M.Taylor
I'm new here and have been enjoying the discussions. I'm curious if I could get some feedback from some of the pros here about a bottle of Old W.L. Weller Special Reserve that my great-grandfather bought in Midway, Kentucky in the 1950s. (He was born in Midway in 1895). I have been unable to find out much from the internet and my local liquor store. Hopefully the pictures help. Thank you! Richnimrod
Although WSR was never a 'special' brand per se; one from this era has to be a fun find. It certainly loox interesting; nice color, not too bad a fill level. WSR BiB. Gotta be a solid pour, if it's been properly stored. Good Luck with it. Let us know how it tastes and smells, please. PaulO
I've seen older bottles of Weller SR, but always 90 proof, never 100 proof bottled in bond. To the right person, it would be a big deal. It might be worth your trouble contacting an auction house that specializes in this sort of thing, even just to see what they say.
Special Reserve
Flask Fine Wines in Studio City, CA has numerous old whiskeys for sale on-line. Obviously they find them somewhere.
smokinjoe
How special? Very special, I would answer. I’ve never seen, not really heard mention of what you have. Like Paul suggested, I would concur that contacting an auction house might be a call worth making.
M.Taylor
I appreciate everyone's feedback. I hoped my Papa Givens's bottle would be special! I will contact an auction house.
