Signed Dave Pickerell Hillrock

Hey guys!  New to the community.  I recently came across a bottle I’d purchased years ago and was curious if it had any value or if anyone had any further info on how the distillery is doing?

It was one of my first non-crappy bourbon purchases.  Hillrock Distillery’s Solera-Aged, signed twice by master distiller Dave Pickerell.  Barrel #12, unopened.

I imagine it’ll just stay in my small collection, but I was curious.  Thanks!

Before you get full of yourself you need to understand a few things.

1) We don't do evaluations here because will not support the secondary market.

2) We get a lot of first time posters such as yourself who swoop in hoping to capitalize on our expertise so they can take a profit on what they discovered. That may not be you but that is what it looks like. Forgive us if we got you wrong.

3) What you have is not special.

If you want to be part of the best bourbon community on the planet we welcome you. If you have other motives it will be frustrating for you.

It is your choice.

1.  Very sorry to disappoint you but my post was every bit as helpful, substantive, and insightful as was called for here.

2.  Also, again sorry to disappoint you but unfortunately, ... No that was not your first un-crappy bourbon bottle that you purchased.  Well, you asked 🤷‍♂️😃

What bourbons or other whiskies do you like to drink?  We are happy to hear your preferences and recommendations.

Please don’t condemn us for you being shortsighted, and your seeming failure to properly familiarize yourself with our site and our rules. You agreed to our site rules and guidelines in order to become a member here. Did you read them? There is also a forum “New To StraightBourbon”. There is also a sub-forum there. “Welcome, And Helpful Hints For New Members”. Did you take the time to browse those? Do you know anything about Dave Pickerell?  I met Dave at a Maker’s Mark Ambassador event in Bardstown KY during the 2007 Kentucky Bourbon Festival. Great guy. His wife was nice too. I also met Bill Samuels at that event. Dave and Bill both signed my Maker’s Mark Colts Super Bowl bottle. 😎  Oh, I almost forgot. Dave was also a StraightBourbon member. 😉

Let’s talk some more about Dave Pickerell.  I have attached a bio from Whiskey University

https://www.whiskeyuniv.com/p-dave-pickerell

All State Karate champ in Colorado.   Tremendous athlete, in general.  West Point grad.  11 years of service before leaving with  a rank of Major.  Masters in Chemical Engineering from University of Louisville.  Known as “The Johnny Appleseed of American Whiskey” because of the dozens of distilleries he worked with.  Master Distiller at Maker’s Mark.  And, on and on.

And, best of all…

He was a member here at Straightbourbon.com, where he dropped tons of knowledge under the moniker, Bourbon Geek.

I was trying to see if the label indicates where it was distilled, NY or sourced from another state (just curious).  Apparently it was finished in sherry casks.  I wouldn't hesitate to open and drink.  It's worth the pleasure a bottle of whiskey can bring.

I have no problem if people have questions about old or unusual items.  A very small percentage turn out to belong on the short list of highly coveted bottles.
