This is the first time I've ever seen one. I paid $69.00, which is the most that I've ever paid for Bulleit.  I've never been a big fan until I tried the BiB...which I believe is 100% their own distillate.   

This SiB is crazy good...I wish I had bought a couple.   The guy who owns the LS does, and takes part in, some phenomenal picks and is the only person I trust enough to buy without trying first. 

I met him through a mutual friend who hosted a whiskey tasting. A bunch of whiskey enthusiasts brought bottles for the tasting, and he guided us through it. It was fun and veryeducational. I was humbled by his knowledge and learned more in one night, then I could've in years on my own.  He's been around for years and has great relationships with a lot of distilleries which gets him access to some really great barrels. 

Technically,  I could try them at the store, which is only an hour away, but DC traffic & parking sucks. It's cheaper to overpay for shipping,  than the hassle of driving and paying for parking.

I got a chance to get back to my "ABC Liquors" today. Hadn't been in some time. But I though I'd check to see what ECBP they were carrying at this point. And to pick up some Vermouth for my Gin.

 

Turns out it was an A125 so I got one.  Three dollars cheaper than the A124 I bought, earlier this year.  And then I discovered why.

 

The A125 is only 118.2 proof, 10yrs 7 months as opposed to the 119.0 proof, 10 yrs 9 mos for A124.  Of course, no B125 yet.   Ah well.  

 

Maybe it is, splitting hairs a tad, but I guess it will be interesting to see the difference in flavor/heat, etc.

Went to my local Binny's to get a LE Oban 15 cask strength sherry finish, and they had the Little Book out at the customer service desk, and since I've never tried it, I got both

Rec'd a call from a local LQ owner to see if I wanted the OF BiB 7yr,  wasn't a matter of price it was more about when may I pick it up.

Also grabbed another BIB that was on the path home.

I've never seen one either.  And I also would have picked one up like you.  Good find. 

 

FWIW I recently tried the OGD 16 year in a bar, and I have to say after passing on a bottle due to the price and poo-pooing it here on SB, I really enjoyed it.  I might have been too hasty in passing on the 16.

Thanks....that makes my cheap-ass feel better.  After tasting it, I should've bought 2-3 bottles. It's really great whiskey....

Proof: 115.18

Blend of 8.5-16 year juice from both Kentucky and Indiana.

Rich, concentrated with Jim Beam like peanut notes, vanilla, butterscotch, some rye spice and charred oak, as well us a bit of citrus peel. Great lingering finish. Fairly complex with quite a bit more happening than I can describe so quickly. I've been told they have quite a cult following so I sought out a few bottlings. This was hands down my favorite of 3 I tried. 

The other 2 I tried are

Rare Character Whiskey Company Kentucky Straight Whiskey Batch No.01 2025
Rare Character Whiskey Company Exceptional Series Wheated Bourbon (this one improved quite a bit since opening. still not sure I am sold on the price-tag yet.)

Worth trying out some Rare Character for sure. Even the other 2 are quite clearly high quality whiskey. I am excited to try others in time.
