Skinsfan1311
Took these home today. I haven't seen a Blanton's pick in forever. I'm sure that I overpaid, ($99.00), but I don't care. I wanted it The OF100 is replacing one that I finished a while ago.
fosmith
I went bottom feeding again today. I bought four bottles of 1792 Small Batch for $17 each in BevMo's Buy One, Buy a Second Bottle for $.05. While I'm not really a regular buyer of this at $34, I do like it, so, at $17 I was all over it. My second purchase was two bottles of George Dickel x Leopold Bros. Collaboration Rye for $39.99 each; marked down from $115! I've never tried it but it got enough good reviews online that I just couldn't pass it up when I saw it on sale at K&L.

That's an insanely good price for the rye. It's really good, not $115.00 good, buy a steal at $39.99. Well done!

The distributor must be dumping their inventory due to slow sales at msrp.
fosmith
More bottom feeding. I just ordered three bottles of Fighting Cock 103 proof for $13 each, marked down from $20, at K&L. They claim that Heaven Hill tells them it's still around 6 yo even though it's NAS. But, whatever, that's EW Black price territory.

I came across a similar deal on Belle Meade Reserve last year. $37.99 and I cleared the last 3 bottles off the shelf.

The Fighting Cock is pretty damn good, even at $20.00...

Can be enjoyed neat, on the rock, as a mixer. It's fairly priced and easily available too.

I'd say if you enjoy the Heaven Hill standard Bourbon house style (EW, Dant, JTS Brown, ...) you've got a winner. FC at a great deal price, I would stock up. I really like it...not a huge fan of the standard, or the full proof.... Full Disclosure: those are the only three iterations of 1792 that I've tried

So, I just took your recommendation and grabbed three more Fighting Cock. And, I had misremembered the price. It's $12 not $13.
Guss West Posted yesterday at 08:21 PM Share Posted yesterday at 08:21 PM Fosmith, check the liquor stores in Oregon next time you're up that way. Plenty of HH cats and dogs on the shelf for MSRP. JTS Brown is my personal fave, for both the profile and historical connection to Wild Turkey. If you find some age stated 7-year "Virgin Bourbon", buy it. My hope is that with bourbon supply improving as it has and to the point of allowing for some longer aging, we’ll see the 7 year come back. Fine bourbon at a great price.

Had to participate in a multi-state smuggling operation (well, trade) to get a couple of bottles.

The bottom shelfer "Medley Bros" is another great HH contract-distilled value bottling.

Have you ever noticed the name "Medley" is also on the Mellow Corn label.
LW25
Been developing a relationship at a new (to me) store this year. Owner got a Russell's SiB pick around new years. I bought one, then another, then bought a case. Told her back in ~April that I was 100% a Turkey fan now thanks to her and that barrel. Today I get a message out of the blue that she's got something for me. Walked in during lunch and she hands me this for $169, which I think is below MSRP. Turns out good relationships with store owners isn't dead after all!
