Anyone tried the Stirring device for whiskey in the US?

Just got served an ad on Amazon.com for something called the "Stirring" - it’s this little "device" that you stir into your whiskey, and supposedly it makes it smoother by pulling out harsh fermentation compounds.

 

They say this is done with no filters or additives**… I’m skeptical but curious. Has anyone here actually tried it? Does it ~actually make a difference in taste or is it just a gimmick?

 

Would love to hear opinions before I grab one.

For me and my taste buddies: Gotta be a gimmick.   If it changes the whiskey, I Don't Want It!   If it doesn't?  Well, then; phony baloney cash extraction scam.

Save your money.  Buy better quality whiskey.  

I've never heard anyone whose opinion I respect use or recommend anything like the item in question.  These devices come and go.  Frankly, I'm skeptical about any science behind it.
