JGrassa Posted yesterday at 01:33 PM Share Posted yesterday at 01:33 PM (edited) These days there is bourbon from all over the US, and I am wondering what bourbon people find to be the best from outside of Kentucky. Which are your favorites? 2 of mine: Widow Jane (partly Kentucky Corn I believe) Garrison Brothers Balmorhea Edited yesterday at 01:33 PM by JGrassa
kcgumbohead
Chattanooga and I very much enjoy what I have from Leiper's Fork and Old Dominick (both TN distilleries that make bourbon in addition to TN whiskey) On the rye side of life, I like Old Potrero from the bay areas of SF and Woodinville from the northwest but they are pricey (SBCS rye). The Leopold 3 chamber rye was quite good and I am VERY much looking forward to more 3 chamber rye as the next few years unfold (check out Iron City Distilling). Starlight has gone a bit quite since all the fanfare a few years back but I've had several very solid releases from them as well. So many distilleries these days its become near impossible to track/try them all, but its good fun trying!!
fosmith
Not to start an argument but George Dickel and Jack Daniel's come to mind. Then, of course, there's MGP. Three great producers from outside Kentucky.
smokinjoe
To me, it’s clearly Jack Daniel’s for me. There is no Kentucky distiller that is “better” than them.

Personally I have never really been into Jack, but I did enjoy one of the Single Barrels a handful of years back. What would you say is among the highest quality stuff they produce? jvd99
I also like the Chattanooga offerings, MGP is always solid, and JD is as good as it gets

And, the 12yr 107 proof is great, as well.
