thunderbroom
Today i stopped by a older well stocked liqor store in town to look for some of the rarer bottlings you guys talk about. They had Black maple hill in all varieties(didn't know to look if it was julian's), Hirsch 16y and a few others that slip my mind at the moment. I was hoping to find some stagg. i ended up walking away with a bottle of ORVW handmade aged 15year 107 proof. HAs a number written on the lablel:B3969. I didn't see a reference on vanwinkle's website. How rare is it? And is it something i should pick up more of if i like it?It's only been about two weeks, but i'm really enjoying my new pastime.-daniel
bobbyc
If they say Lawerenceburg they are older VanWinkles when Julian was in business by himself. If they say Frankfort they are from his joint venture with Buffalo Trace. All are desirable, I'll leave it at that.

In addition, if it's the squat, round bottle (as it seems, from your description) it's disappearing as Julian is now bottling the 15yo in cognac-style bottling like the 20- and 23-yo Family Reserves.
