Drake
I must be missing something. Although I have 40+ years experience drinking Kentucky Bourbons , I can’t for the life of me see that Buffalo Trace warrants any of the accolades attributed to it on this site. I’ve been to the distillery--a beautiful place producing beautiful Bourbon (Blantons not Buffalo Trace). The one and only bottle of Buffalo Trace I ever purchased was at the distillery and it was so bad I left it with my brother in law, he couldn’t drink it either and finally used it to remove oil spots form his driveway. Can someone tell me where I have gone wrong in my assessment of this Bourbon?
jeff
How long ago did you purchase your bottle? I remember not caring for BT the first time or two I sampled it. I remember a rather unpleasant mustiness in it. Well, that mustiness is gone and it is now a world-class drink, IMHO. Give it another try if you get the chance

Ken Weber
I am intrigued by your comments regarding Buffalo Trace. Several months after we first introduced the brand, I had a conversation with Jimmy Russell. He and I both agreed that the first batch of Buffalo Trace had a mustiness to it. We decided that we did not want to have this taste characteristic and each subsequent batch has been produced so that it is no longer a factor. We were searching for an "earthiness", not mustiness. I believe you will find the bourbon more to your liking now.If you are passing through Lexington, please stop by the distillery. We are only 30 minutes out of your way. Let me know when you can come by and I will show you around behind the scenes and conclude the tour with a bourbon tasting. We can taste our way through our age and recipe range and you can decide for yourself whether Buffalo Trace Bourbon suits your taste. Ken
