TNbourbon
There's really no way to tell. Jimmy was signing still more of them just two weeks ago at the Sampler and Gazebo. But, yes, sometimes producers do provide some to distributors who, in turn, offer them to retailers as part of an "if you'll by X bottles, one of them will be signed" deal. NorCalBoozer
thanks, i was reading the other threads about the signings at the Gazebo and i was just wondering from a bottling stantpoint since out of several there was this random signed one. NorCalBoozer
i'll keep my eyes open.I'm still trying to learn the history as a newbie so sometimes its tough for me to know what is "rare" or "discontinued" or a "good buy". like yesterday, my local store had several bottles of IW Harper (either 12 or 15 yo) can't remember. i was reading that Harper is no longer produced? I'm thinking I should go pick some up.I do know what i like and Stagg is my favorite. It kind of ruined me as I went from JD to Bookers to Stagg. bobbyc
The IW Harper is owned by Diageo and is marketed primarily in Japan, some of it finds it's way to US distribution. Some fairly old stock shows up from time to time. Old Charter was supposed to be the same whiskey, so if drinking it is the consideration, you have an out. Whether IW Harper appeals to you would be the reason to buy or not. You could probably use any you find as trading stock at some point. I too faced a quaundry with Stagg and felt that I had reached the end of Bourbon as it were.
NorCalBoozer
thanks. Of course I would like to try it and also stock it, if others on this board had some trouble finding it.Stagg? well what can I say. I am somewhat new to bourbon, and the 05 Stagg is the only Stagg I have tried, so i don't want to go overboard, but the quality, flavors, complexity, and balance is incredible.
