brewcrew
My father in law's birthday is coming up and I was going to get him a bottle of bourbon. He likes to drink Maker's and Knob Creek neat. I turned him on to bourbon about a year ago but he hasn't ventured past his two regular pours.I was looking to spend under $35. I have become a big fan of Buffalo Trace but was thinking maybe ORVW 10 yr 107 proof might fit his tastes more. I have tried the ORVW 15 but not the 10. Any suggestions? Ken Weber
Coming from a purely commercial point of view, I believe that any Van Winkle bourbon is a good choice. I like to taste Buffalo Trace against Knob Creek. I also like to compare Maker's to Weller 12 or Weller Special Reserve.Ken

lakegz
I'd take him on a different route and buy him a Rare Breed.
bobbyc
I'd take him on a different route and buy him a Rare Breed. If I were to do that I'd say get him a Russells Reserve at 101 proof while it is still available.
brewcrew
Thanks for all the suggestions. I received a 15% off all spirits coupon in the mail from Binny's so I stopped in last night and picked up Ancient Age 10yr, Eagle Rare SB, EC 12yr, OGD 114, Weller 12yr and Russell Reserve 101. I guess he will end up with the 1 bottle that makes it to his b-day unopened.
