My father in law gave me an unopened commemorative flask of Bourbon. The container was a 16" high bust of John Wayne. According to the bottle it was made by the Mike Wayne Distilling Co., of Bardstown Kentucky. Inside was a really wonderful dark amber, rich, heavy sweet Bourbon with a very distinctive taste of dried fruit i.e. raisins or prunes. Does anyone know where to get a similar flavored Bourbon? I can find no reference to the distillery anymore.

I can't find Buffalo Trace in California, perhaps by mail order from out of state. Any other bourbons with that darker, heavier particular dried fruit taste?

I would suggest Van Winkle Special Reserve Lot B 12 year old. This is available at Beverages & More, which are all over CA.

Thanks for the tip. The Van Winkle Special Reserve 12 yr old Lot B is indeed excellent, albeit pricey.
