mobourbon
On Tues. July 27the 750ml Elijah Craig 12 y/o 94 proof is going down to $12.99 from $16.99 in PA. I believe it is being closed out because only 1.75 liter bottles are listed in our new catalogue, which goes into effect on Tues. of next week. Bettye Jo, can you shed any light on the situation? I have 12 bottles in my store. I like the EC12, so I'm happy. It will be cheaper, and better, than Jim Beam White.

boone
Hi Fred, I asked about the current events in PA regarding Elijah Craig. It is in fact being delisted. When the state delists, they lower the price to close it out. Currently the 1.75L size will continue to be available. The state has no immediate or mid-term plans to reintroduce EC 12 in the 750ml. The control state manager did not suggest any imminent gloom or the 1.75L. So...it looks like ya get to enjoy "alot" of it now! We changed that line over last night from, Elijah Craig. When that run comes up, it's thousands and thousands and thousands of cases at at time. It takes nearly two lines (of employees, *18*) to run Elijah Craig 12 year. The corks are put in by hand. The heat shrink is put on by hand. The hang tag is put on by hand. The line has to be slowed down to accomodate the extra folks trying to get their tasks done...Can't run at 180 BPM That would be another "Lucy in the candy factory episode" The bottle is such a ususal shape that we alter the filler. We put in a special in-feed screw so that it will skip every other stem and switch control gears beneath the filler from chain to belt (different gear ratio's). The bottle is so wide they will not fit side by side using every stem on the carousel. We're pumping it out as fast as we can Sorry for the delay in my response...It won't happen again Bettye Jo
mobourbon
Thanks for your very informative response. It's not a deal that it took a little time. I appreciate you taking the time to find out. I don't know if I missed it, but is PA discontinuing the 750 ml size or HH? I don't currently carry the 1.75 L but I will order it to take up the space the 750 size occupied. I pictured a 180 BPM line with all those people trying to do their jobs. Knowing what has to be done to bottle bourbon, we bourbon lovers are very appreciative! Thanks again, Bettye Jo. AVB
It wasn't that long ago that PA didn't carry the 1.75L bottle. I went indo MD to get one. Once they did start carrying the larger bottle it was at a better price then the MD store. As long as it is still available it doesn't matter what size I buy it in.
