kbuzbee
Is McLain & Kyne an actual distillery or is this a legal fiction?? Don't get me wrong, I love JR but I get easily confused by labels within labels.....Also, does anyone know what happened when 15 year old went to Very Old???? I never saw this in Ohio until it became Very Old so I was never able to taste the 15yo.Cheers,Ken
boone
Their web page states: Located in the heart of Bardstown, Ky. The Bourbon Capital of the World...It has a picture of a distillery at the header. You can travel all over Bardstown looking for the McLain and Kyne Distillery, there is no "actual" operational (distillery) building.Tax records will show who "actually produces" bourbon in our state...Each distillery has a DSP#...Stored bourbon (barrels) has to be accounted for and taxes paid...Federal law. I have seen this list from time to time...Last time being, when Jim Beam had issue with paying taxes on stored bourbon. I noted who was on the list and who is not on the list. jeff
Agreed. While the 15yo JR was slightly over priced IMHO, the new VOJR doesn't come close in nose or in flavor. The VOJR is very hot and spicy on my palate. Some days I want that, but I can get there for a lot less money.
kbuzbee
The 15 year old was very good and sadly missed. Joe
