Isoflex
Any input on this bottling? It is not one I have seen before and wondered if it was worth trying at $32 a bottle?? Sorry if this has been discussed before but I'm out of town and need some info before the purchase and didn't turn up anything in the search. bobbyc
When a few of us gathered at a cookout at BettyeJos in march or April this year, she got us a private sitting at HH Bourbon Hertitage Center. After a thorough going over of EWSB and EC18 a look behind the bar turned up a few nice bottlings and some of us turned to those. H McKenna Single Barrel, and Old Fitzgerald 12 year, among others, it is a fine drink as I recall, but I had sampled many things by that point. TNbourbon
This is an original member of UD's Bourbon Heritage Collection from the early-'90s, now produced by Heaven Hill. It's a bourbon that wows some people, nonplusses others. I realize that's not terribly helpful, but there just doesn't seem to be a grand consensus on it.I feel pretty assured you won't spit it out, however. It won't be 'bad', in any case, I think. Isoflex
Thanks for the input. I bought the bottle.... it had been sitting on their shelf AT LEAST 4 years (that was when the current owner said he bought the store and it was there then. The years have not been kind to it. Has to be the 2nd worst whiskey I have ever had!!! (the worst being Jameson Irish). There is some off notes I can't place (mouldy bread?) and a taste to match.I do appreciate the replies and was not expecting a whole lot from the bourbon so no hard feelings. I'm sure when treated properly it would have been a fine bourbon. As it is I will save it for my medicinal stock (come home from a real bad day and 4 shots later I'm fine and don't care what I drink!! THANKS AGAIN, this board is super. Also picked up an I.W. Harper 15 y.o. but will wait until tomorrow to give it a fair try.
Isoflex
I.W. Harper was not bad...too fruity for me. Glad I got a bottle of WT RR 101 a few weeks ago before they are all gone. NOW that is a great bourbon AND UNDER $30!
MurphyDawg
Old Fitzgerald 12 year, among others, it is a fine drink as I recall, but I had sampled many things by that point. amusingly that is exactly how I would explain Fitz 12. . . really good if it is not one of your first few drinks of the night .
