BourbonJoe
Again, I'm working on the database. Question on Classic Cask: 1. Who distills it? 2 What are the proofs of the 13, 18 and 20 year old versions? Thanks for your help, Joe
LeNell
Kentucky Bourbon Distillers bottles it. Proofs are 90.8 on the 13 and 20. Just ran out of 18 but my guess it was the same.
BourbonJoe
LeNell, Do you know who distills or bottles it? Joe
TNbourbon
Kentucky Bourbon Distillers bottles it.That's Even Kulsveen's (and son, Drew's) operation in Bardstown. Never heard 'em say (they generally don't) who distills it.
dgonano
I have a 17 yr CC bourbon that also is 90.8 proof.
BourbonJoe
Are the Classic Cask bottlings all single barrels? Joe
monte
Are the Classic Cask bottlings all single barrels? Joe No, the ones I have are called "hand crafted single batch" and state a batch size of 600 bottles (for the 17 Y.O. GL103), 726 (for the 13 Y.O. GL-109) and 624 bottles (for the 21 Y.O. RW-109. My best guess is that these are each the result of 3 barrels, maybe one more or less, given the proof and age of the whiskey. Cheers, -monte-
dgonano
I'm not sure how many of the "small batches" were bottled each year. But my 17 yr is lot GL 107, 600 bottles; my 20yr is lot GL 108, 630 bottles. Monte, I believe the 21 yr old is most likely a rye whiskey as the lot designation is RW. LeNell
I had never even heard of the 17 until a customer recently asked me about it. I never saw that here. Alan Shayne from Spirit Imports is pretty accessible to talk about their whiskeys. Don't expect him to tell you who distills it, of course, but he helps keep me apprised of what's coming and going. Has anyone had the latest 21 year rye, yet? I haven't compared it to the previous 22 we had.
dgonano
LeNell, The 17 yr was bottled in 2002 and was most likely distributed very quickly. I picked up the 20 yr at your store last November.
