Is there any convenient way of discovering which spirits/liquors are sold by the stat in Ohio?

Thanks in advance

I recently wrote to the State asking that very question. Effectively the answer I got back was 'no'.

The Division of Liquor Control is in receipt of your inquiry dated August 10, 2005 regarding list of available spirits in Ohio.

The Ohio Department of Commerce, Division of Liquor Control, is charged with the responsibility for controlling the manufacture, distribution and sale of all alcoholic beverages in the state of Ohio. Regulatory functions include the issuance of permits to manufacturers, distributors, and retailers of alcoholic beverages.

The Division does not produce a list of products available in individual agency stores. However, if you have a particular beverage that you would like and it is not offered in a particular store we will attempt to obtain the beverage. Hopefully this adequately addresses your concern.

On behalf of the Division of Liquor Control I would like to thank you for your inquiry.

Sincerely,

Tammy Brown, Special Assistant to the Superintendent

Although you cannot obtain a list of liquors at individual stores, you can get a list of liquors allowed to be sold in Ohio.

I requested this list last year and received it in a week or two. The lists are good for (I believe) a three month period. It is a very extensive list (as well as a trick to decipher) and as you probably are aware, there really aren't that many bourbons available. BUT, there were a number of bourbons available to be sold that I have never been able to find on a shelf in Ohio. Smaller liquor stores are willing to order these for you, but usually only a case at a time.

Hope that helps.

To me, the reply was more like, "Its none of your business." Not very friendly. blush.gif

Remember Lilly Tomlin as the AT&T lady?? We're the phone company. We don't care because we don't have to.....

So true!
