Jono
In a letter to the editor (U.S. News & World Report 9/5/05) a Mr. Fisher of Spencer, IA commented on an article called "The Booze Ban Backlash" and related a story about Iowa during Prohibition. Evidently, Templeton, IA was famous for producing Templeton Rye whiskey. Legend has it that the flavor was enhanced by pouring it through a well-worn man's hat. Travelers seeking to buy some rye were directed to a house for inquiries. Supposedly, the reply at the door would be from a lady who would point to a yellow house saying it was the only house that did not sell Templeton Rye.
