bluesbassdad
This morning a brief rain/hail storm almost caused me to toss today's issue of the Prescott Courier. Instead, I spread it over the kitchen table and turned the ceiling fan on high while I prepared a belated brunchfast. My effort was rewarded when I opened the weekly supplement (didn't we used to call them Sunday supplements?), American Profile, and spotted on page 4 an article entitled "Distilling Kentucky Spirits". In the space of less than two pages the article quotes Parker Beam in regard to EWSB '95, gives an accurate definition of bourbon, repeats some of the lore about the origin of whiskey-making in the USA, quotes a lady from the Getz and another who is a past winner of the barrel-rolling contest, and promotes the KBF.Of the five photos that accompany the piece, one shows black-shirted men rolling a barrel, while a crowd that includes a lady with familiar-looking, reddish hair appears in the background. (The lack of apparent excitement suggests to me that the photo was posed.)All in all, the piece does a good job of presenting the appeal of Bardstown and the KBF.Yours truly,Dave Morefield

boone
Hi Dave, Those "Men in Black" are from Heaven Hill...the guy on the first barrel, is Jerimy Fletcher (setter)...the guy with the sunglasses. Ezra Cornish (rick man)...the guy standing to the right is Buck Cheatham (corner)...the fella on the left is Chuck Ball (alternate and rick man for the individual) There is another member Ben Geoghegan (back side---not in the picture)...This fine group of fellas are "The 1995 World Champion Barrel Rolling Team" from Heaven Hill ...They beat "all" the "other distillery" teams for this title ... Buck, won the individual title This picture was taken less than a minute before the clock started...Believe me...it's full of spirit and lots of excitement ...for some reason this picture doesn't tell the tale...
