Randy's posts remind me that I shot a few pix that day, too.

Here's Randy and the 1899/1918 Belmont gallon he donated to the Getz:

Randy, thank you very much for posting these pictures. I didn't bring my camera so I was hoping pictures of the event would be posted. toast.gifthankyousign.gif

While Cliff and the gang were selecting the barrel of SW...My son Ben and I were able to get an opportunity to talk with Ken Weber in the Rick house at Buffalo Trace. The aroma in there was delicious.

Ken is a pretty cool guy to spend some time with us beginners, and one of the main reasons BT is such a classy deal!

This wasn't directed at me, but we're having that barrel bottled as Weller 12yo.

It is, isn't it?? I always knew about the evaporation but I never linked that to the amazing aroma in the rickhouses.... We did three tours this trip and all smelled just wonderful. I wonder if they rent rooms in there??? Great B&B idea!

Julian, as Jeff answered above......BT is bottling them as Weller 12yo. Hasn't been bottled yet, to my knowledge.

I found this while cruzin' the pictures taken at the 05 KBF, it was at the tasting at HH that Bettye Jo lined up...that's Parker Beam pouring some Evan Williams for us...what an evening...

I've nice memories of that event, Thanks Bettye Jo!

This walking stick was headed up the easel to take a closer look at the list of bourbons that we were going to do the blind tasting from...or was he heading down...?

Cool looking bug...I'd never seen one except in pictures.

You just never know who is going to drop in at the Gazebo; I had the privilege to enjoy a drink and some good conversation with Bill Friel (Retired Master Distiller from Barton's) and Greg Davis, the current Master Distiller at Barton's. Simply Grand!

Back in my mixed-drink and J.D. period I had a bottle of Evan Williams (12 y/o, IIRC) that had a red label. When I became interested in bourbon in earnest a few years back, I dug out that bottle and tasted it. It was undrinkable. Much later I learned that storing it on its side for several years may have ruined it.

Now I'm interested to know whether that bottling is available so I can give it another try. I've not seen it on the shelves in the last five years, not even in the L.A. area.

Yours truly,

Dave Morefield

I believe if memory serves you've got the bottle right Dave but unfortunately this is Japanese export only if I remember correctly. This was a special tour HH did for us and a real treat. Just another reason we GOTS to get you to Bardstown soon! toast.gif
