Vange
Yesterday after reading some positive reviews about the VW Special Reserve 12 Lot B, I took a ride after work and went to 4 liquor stores in the area I work in.I make my first stop, I walk into this liquor store and scan the shelves and see nothing and notice the prices are just higher than they should be on all their spirits. I am about to leave and look WAY up on a top shelf and spot a Hirsch bottle, but not the 16, but the 20! My heart literally skipped a beat and I grabbed it. It was the last one sitting all alone. I went to the register with it cradled in my arms and the young clerk rang it up. She did a triple take at the register when the price of $220 came up. I said to her, "no, that price is correct". She smirked and rang me up and I was on my way. I'll give it a good home and save it's opening for a special occasion. I know I spent too much, but it's a piece of history. I did goto 3 more stores after and on the 4th one I found the VW Special Reserve 12 Lot B. I tried it last night, EXCELLENT bourbon.
gr8erdane
Nice find for sure but I'm not sure many are going to find them much cheaper from here on. Not unless you go well off the beaten path in my experience....
Vange
Yeah, I figured that the best I could do pricewise, plus it's a once in a lifetime buy since I doubt I'll run across more.
LeNell
Congrats on the find. I personally prefer the 16, but it's always exciting to find the "rare one."
