troyce
Any appearance of the new releases of Buffalo Trace's Antique Collection in Louisville or Lexington( or anywhere for that matter)? Also, has there been any early production numbers announced for the four issues?thanks,Jim
smokinjoe
Jim: At least one of the big chains told me that they were hoping for delivery this past Friday, but no such luck. They figured it be this coming week. I'm heading to Kentucky this week, and will be doing some trolling. Taking an extra large suitcase, just in case! I'm a little fuzzy on the max. proof of a spirit that can be taken on a plane. Do you or anyone out there know what that might be? JOE
barturtle
140 proof is the max, so you can risk them actually checking your new Stagg or ship it yourself-it is perfectly legal to ship to yourself. This might be the best way as well, since most likely you'll want more than one of each of the collection and the carry-on limit is 5 liters. Good luck in your hunting
TNbourbon
...it is perfectly legal to ship to yourself...Not in/to very many places -- there are just 14 so-called 'reciprocal' states, of which Kentucky ain't one. Check your local laws. Here in Tennessee, it is actually a felony to either ship or receive, to yourself or anyone else. That is not to say, however, that such laws are stringently enforced. But on the books nonetheless.
smokinjoe
Thanks for the info Timothy. I may have to risk it, if I get lucky. But, another good thing about the Antique Collection (as if they needed more good things is that if/when the screeners actually notice them, due to the bottle shape, they think they're just bottles of wine! barturtle
I guess this falls into the "would you break the law to" realm.Always knew that having liquor shipped from a retailer into KY was illegal, but had heard of many people shipping stuff they bought out of there (hell they got their taxes, what more do they want) But yeah, I guess I "shouldn't" recommend that.Good to be in LA right now, no shipping restrictions-I checked when I moved here. kybishop
Hello from Frankfort Kentucky. Possibly the stuff will hit the stores here in Frankfort this Friday. I picked up a couple bottles of AAA 10 year old and a bottle of Eagle Rare single barrel 10 year at Red Dot today. Plan to pick up some Stagg, Wellers, Pappy 20 year and Eagle Rare. CrispyCritter
I took a spin past the nearest Binny's location, and it isn't in yet... looking forward to it, though.
BourbonJoe
It finally hit the shelves in Pennsylvania. Everything except the William Larue Weller of which Pennsylvania will get only about 120 bottles per Chris Comstock. I had a taste of all of them at the Philadelphia Whiskey Fest. They are all top notch. Now where the heck can I put all this bourbon? Joe
RedVette
Just ordered up the whole collection from my favorite mail order house, doubled up the Sazerac and the WLW. While I was there I also ordered up a couple of 13yr VW Ryes. My wallet feels much lighter.
JDKnaebel
Any appearance of the new releases of Buffalo Trace's Antique Collection in Louisville or Lexington( or anywhere for that matter)? Hit Louisville today. Picked up the entire collection at Liquor Barn plus some spares. Probably won't last long.

jeff
I picked up a bottle of the Wiliam L Weller barrel proof at the new Liquor Barn in Lexington today for $46.99. It's a very smooth 121.9 proof! It's sweet with vanilla and clove notes. Morgan at the LB told me that he only got 10 bottles of this, as compared to 60 bottles of the new Stagg. After tasting it just now, I'm going to pick up a few more tomorrow
RedVette
I paid significantly more for my 2 bottles of WLW via mailorder. The way I figure it, they have deals on some, and they charge slightly over market on others, but it all comes out in the wash. So far the service and selection beats anything local.Price, Quality, Service...Choose two.
Sweetmeats
I'm going to pick up a few more tomorrow You lucky son of... Sniff...Sniff... It's not you. It's me. Carry on.
gr8erdane
You're not alone Rob, I have spent the last couple of years scrambling to make deals on bottles I had hoped to find on a shelf somewhere and missed the boat! I have been checking all the usual suspects the last couple of days looking for any hints that Stagg and wLw were available yet and found it on one at the higher price. I jumped on it this time around and will at least have a couple of bottles of each secured within the week. And wouldn't you know it, I checked my email and they had just sent me notification of the availability! Received it just before the order receipt. Rughi
I worry that my neighborhood liquor store won't order the incoming Stagg, as he's still got several 129's and 130.9's on the shelves. Fie, I say, to Ebay and it's logrolling on Stagg. There's also a bit of Eagle Rare and Saz.Hey, I'm drinking as fast as I can, and I'm still vexed by George T .Roger "Sampler is almost just around the corner" Hodges
dgonano
I have a few three packs of Stagg and one of WLW arriving tomorrow.Got to taste taste all four at the NY WhiskeyFest last week..thanks to Kris and Ken.... The Sazerac Rye won "Whiskey of the Year".... Congrats to the BT group for again winning the "Distiller of the Year" award.
smokinjoe
I've been able to land a few of the Stagg and WLW. My retailer said he received "a ton" of Stagg, but very little WLW. I apologize if I missed it posted elsewhere, but any word on what the bottle count is for each? Based on early exit polls, me thinks the WLW is gonna be tight. jburlowski
The Antique Collection finally appeared in Northern Kentucky. The WLW and ER are in extremely short supply --- the store I visited (which is a major liquor retailer in the area) was allocated only 6 and 3 bottles respectively. Because of the small supply, you likely won't see it on the shelf --- ask if it is available. I was able to snag two Staggs and one each of the WLW and ER and will post my impressions shortly. (I didn't check on the Sazerac since I'm not arye drinker.)BTW, some local stores still have the Spring '05 Stagg avaialable.

mobourbon
Thanks, Jeff, for the report. PA is supposed to get about 121 bottles of WLW, and I WILL find a bottle. I bought the GTS today and it is fantastic! Kudos to BT!!!
