So.... I'm in contact with a new friend in Germany, we get to discussing Hirsch items and he comes up with this photo...anyone herd of this one yet...might be just as rare as the 19 year old?

best regards, dog

Will wonders never cease, good detective work, Doug!

I can't speak for Julian....but I have seen a number of Hirsch bottlings besides the highly sought after 16 and 20yo's.....this 15yo and a 19yo come to mind. The "Pot Still" story was a Michters marketing story.....they used a continuous still and a pot doubler. They did have a small scale pot still at the end of their operations.....I recall it was operational beginning in 1976 and made a barrel a day. They sold the 100% pot still very dear. I have marketing info from Michters that a lot of the 100% pot still was sold in special decanters for $1000.

Anyway....I haven't had this one, but I guess its very similar to the early 16yo's.

that label is interesting...i can't tell if it came that way because it looks like mold/age spots.

This was one of the first Hirsch bottling I bottled in 1989. Those guys-Cork & Bottle, bottled alot of differnet Hirsch labels until they dumped all the whiskey in a tank in 1990. It was all the same Michter's distillation. I would have to check my old records to see how much was bottled. I think this label was all export.

Julian,

I think this label was all export.

Julian

This would be consistent with the information that I received from the gentleman who sent me the original picture.

Koji's post would also lend to support that...

Thanks Julian!
