Vange
I just got this bottle in the mail today. All I can say is that it just looks like it's going to be darn good. Very nice packaging and a cedrtain elegance to the bottle. I can't wait to try it.
TNbourbon
...a certain elegance to the bottle... Then you're going to be one of the few folks here thrilled to see the Russell's Reserve 90 proof show up on your local shelves .
Chaz7
So, not the greatest of WT fans (I do however like KY Spirit)is the Tribute worth $70.00?
BarItemsPlus1
...a certain elegance to the bottle... Yes I too am somewhat dissappointed at both the versions - US/Japan... Obviously the company directors don't think Jimmy is worthy of a decent TRIBUTE!! I would like to see the bourbon world release something of this statue..... Come on guys, does no one think that bourbon is worth this praise
gr8erdane
If you want one of a kind single offerings that will never be made again, certainly! The real question is not whether we think it's worth it, but rather whether you do. Personally, I wouldn't sell my bunkered Tribute bottle for 700 dollars. Of course I did get it signed by Jimmy.... AVB
I'm hard pressed to justify the $125 I spent on my last bottle of Blue let alone what that box was asking. That version wasn't sold in the US AFAIK. Looks good though. ......I would like to see the bourbon world release something of this statue..... kbuzbee
So, not the greatest of WT fans (I do however like KY Spirit)is the Tribute worth $70.00? To me it is. Tribute is my all time favorite, nudging out Kentucky Spirit. Do you have some available for $70????Ken
camduncan
I was lucky enough to receive a bottle of Tribute for a Wedding present from a very generous Aussie SB.com'er Personally, I think it's the best presented bottle of bourbon I've ever owned. TNbourbon
...is the Tribute worth $70.00? Certainly, from a relative standpoint -- I've never bought it under $75, and more often (if even still available), it pushes $100.I'd buy all I could at $70, because it's an instant collectible in addition to being mighty fine bourbon. Chaz7
I did not know it was a collectible. I may need to look at it again. But, I drink my bourbons; I don't really collect. I did see only one bottle, so the question is is it worth $70.00 to drink? I'm not in it for the profit. But $70.00, that's Pappy 20 y.o. territory. Well, suffice it to say that nearly anyone who's ever drunk it paid more than $70 for his/her bottle. As for the collectibility, it's a one-off -- it will not be produced again. 'Nuff said. Wait a minute, Dane! We thought you got Jimmy to sign RR bottles instead so that you wouldn't have a drinking dilemma regarding whether to open a signed bottle! Of course, now that we think of it, signed RR 101 now presents the same dilemma... So, which one would you open first?
gr8erdane
Ah yes, at the distillery it was indeed the RR that was signed but when Tim brought me my Tribute to the Sampler this spring I had Jimmy sign it as well. Astute observation Grasshopper, you have snatched the pebble from my hand!BTW, both are securely enshrined (and dominate for that point) in my dining room hutch with my other signed bourbon memorabilia. camduncan
As crazy as it sounds, I've been thinking I should hang onto mine and, seeming as it's a 50 year Tribute bottle, open it on my 50th in 14 years time
AVB
It'll be a heck of a lot cheaper then the 50 yo scotch I bought for mine! barturtle
Gee I was thinking of opening a vertical of EWSB for my 50th Bday. With 20 more years to go I should have enough bourbon for a huge party...though my plans may be dashed if they don't continue it
gr8erdane
If it'll help Cam, you can open the Tribute on MY 50th which is only a scant four years away....give or take a few days.....
Chaz7
Well, I may just go for it. But "buy all I can" equates to the lonely bottle locked in the display case. It was there last night, so I'll check back tonight or tomorrow. Chaz.
