I guess the title says it all, but I was curious if someone could make some kind of guess as to when the AH Hirsch 16 3rd release (gold foil) will NOT be readily available. I see it in many stores and all over the web. The prices vary anywhere from $50-$100 a bottle.

Currently, the 20 year and 1st and 2nd release are in a near legendary state, so I was wondering if the 3rd release will ever become that way.

I say yes, it will be extremely rare, when little or none is available. :stickpoke: :stickpoke:

I predict this should happen in 3-5 years.

I don't think it'll be that long, Ed. Two years ago, label owner Henry Preiss told me in an email exchange (which I posted here somewhere) that there were only 2,500 cases remaining. All of that now is in distribution, two years of sales later. I suspect much of it is on shelves (or websites, or sales lists). So, while there might be 500 sources of it today with 3-4 bottles, when they go to reorder and it's no longer in distributors' stock, it's gone right then.

We have 12-15 bottles on the shelf where I work. I bought one the other day after lusting over it for several weeks. It's certainly a worthy addition to my collection. But those bottles won't be leaving the shelves any time soon. No one even looks at them.
