LeNell
Hey, pals! Had a very nice dinner with Greg Davis tonight and he's offered to do a sweet little tour with us Thursday, April 27th at 10am during the Sampler. PM me if you are interested. Should be a good time. It's always nice to smell the distillery right there at the General Nelson Gazebo. Even better to be at the distillery!1792 finally hit NYC! yee haw
jeff
That will be interesting for anyone who attends. A bunch of us took the tour in September and it was great. No fancy showroom, but lots of good information. I think I was more impressed by the palletizer than anything:lol:
pepcycle
Talking with the Column Still Operator. We went through the entire process and how he tweaks the temps and flows to maximize production, minimize heads/tails etc.
jeff
He was great. What was his name again?
doubleblank
His middle name was "who needs a thumper to make good whiskey?".Seems he bypassed it on a regular basis. I know I had a funny look on my face.Randy
BourbonJoe
No wonder some batches of 1792 taste strange.Joe
jeff
For anyone who may not know, 1792 is actually a "mingling" of 2 different recipies: standard barton and the "1792" recipe. While on tour we got to taste a barrel sample of the pure "1792" recipe and it was spectacular! I wish they could bottle just that, but there isn't enough of the "1792" to go very far.
