After a long search that began over a year ago, I ran across a bottle today at a liquor store that I frequented in the past. I was in the neighborhood and low and behold there it was. The last of it's kind at this location. I had never even gazed upon it so needless to say I jumped at the chance.

Not that it matters, but what was the cost of WT Tribute when it was released and what is the going price now?

Retail ranged from approximately $70 up to $90 at issue (there may have been some sale prices here and there lower), and most recently has topped $100 quite regularly -- both on eBay and retail shelves.

I have been eyeing a local bottle for a while now that is north of $95. It has been in the store for a long time and is probably not going anywhere soon.....I hope. Everytime I am close to having the funds to free the Tribute from the its bonds, something else gets in the way. Two weeks ago it was Hirsch 16yo, today it is WT 12yo....bottle VI for the bunker. Oh well, hopefully time is on my side with the WTT.

I just ordered a bottle. I have been looking for a long time and I finally found a bottle, I won't say how much I paid but it was a lot but not totally out of range of current market price. I just did a search on this bourbon and I wondered if anyone had any particular, specific thoughts on this whiskey. Thanks and cheers. I'm dying of anticipation, can't wait to taste this stuff.

Hi Tim, Congratulations! WTT is my all time favorite Bourbon. To me, it brings everything I like in a Bourbon. Plenty of aging notes (oak and such) and plenty of the WT flavor profile as well as the "Kick" WT products always have. It's just delicious. I will "warn" you it might have a warming up period where you get used to each other ;-). I enjoyed the first pour I tried but the second day was so much better.

have just acquired a bottle of the Wild Turkey Tribute that is sold only in Japan. The bottle is the WT Spirit bottle and not the Tribute bottle sold here in the U.S.

I noticed that the proof is 110....still 15 years old as is the U.S. version.

Nope! I havent opened it yet....has anyone tasted this version? What can I expect, and how does it differ in taste from the U.S. Tribute.....??

They were bottling this a few years back during our tour with Jimmy Russel. He said its the same bourbon....just a slightly higher proof. My guess is that it will be very similar in taste.

I just grabbed a bottle of this today in Corral City, TX (as well as some Eagle Rare and Sazerac '05).

I bought it not knowing anything about it, but I like WT products so I thought I'd give it a shot. Good to hear it's well regarded 'round here.

I just spotted a bottle of this stuff today and found out on here how rare it is. Also, the prices is only $75 which, from what I've read here, is a steal.

HighTower, I believe only one. However, I will definitely ask if he has anymore in the back and if he can contact his distributor to see if they have any still available. Sometime this AM I should have an answer for you. If he has any additional bottle, or can get his hands on some, I will definitely make the purchase and announce on this board how many I have and the price (the price will be whatever I pay after taxes).

I just picked up my WT Tribute and I asked the owner if he had any more on had to which he said no, but he would talk to his distributor and let me know if any other bottles are available. He and the other owner both felt it shouldn't be a problem to get, but may not be able to get the packaging with it, just the bottle.

So, if he does have any, I will let you know. In the meantime, how many are interested? Those who are, please PM me and the first to do so will get the first bottle and so on.

My feeling is, there aren't any more bottles, but we'll see.

This very much contracts what I read yesterday regarding this particular WT release. Paraphrasing; more WTT cases were shipped to Japan than the US.

So, why the lie by WT?!

Liquor store owners are always saying "sure I can get more". I have my doubts that there is any more left at the distributor. Be glad you were able to snag at least 1 to try.

Lie? It just marketing; I know they are often are the same thing. The WT marketing folks would say that the US Tribute release was 5,500 bottles and was only available in the US; which is true. The Japan release was a different proof and in a different bottle, so then it is a different product.

As to the discrepancy noted by Wade, there were two bottlings of Wild Turkey Tribute:

(1) a 101 proof version in the new Russell's Reserve bottle and packaged in a wooden cylinder, limited to 5,500 bottles and apparently sold only in the U.S., and

(2) a 110 proof version in the KY Spirit bottle and packaged in a brown box, with no indication of the number of bottles in the run and apparently sold only in Japan.

As I remember reading somewhere on this board, Jimmy Russell said the actually # of US bottles was actually short of the projected 5500 mark. Closer to 5000.

It doesn't say on the bottle of the Japanese Tribute, but it does say on the back of the box. It says 9000 bottles.

I guess the label on the bottle is wrong. It says 3,095 of 5,500.

Just to let you all know. I tried to get additional bottle of the Tribute but none are in existence here. The liquor store owner said her ordered 12 back in Dec. '04 and I just grabbed the last bottle. His distributor does not have anymore.

Yet to try my bottle.... waiting for a special moment in my life, I guess. Hope it is good for the price I payed.. but by the time I drink it I will have forgoten how much I payed for it.
